Rodney is a ginger ninja who comes with a list of challenges. But like many rescue kitties, those challenges can also bring big rewards.

Rodney came to us from the back of a business in Dandenong as a very frightened kitten. With zero trust in humans, Rodney continues to be a work in progress.

There is no doubt that he is a beautiful, intelligent cat. He has the most amazing dark ginger colouring and a white chest and long white socks. Rodney is a big boy and he would very much like to be part of a home with another cat to play with who enjoys a good rumble.

But here is the rub; Rodney still has issues with trust. What he needs is a truly caring “cat person” who is prepared to continue his rehabilitation. He really wants to be loved and petted, but he just needs help to go that extra step.

Rodney is in a rather crowded home at present, and he would really benefit from more one-on-one attention. So if you work from home or are home a fair amount of the time, this would help him adjust to life with you.

Rodney loves his food and will tell you in the quietest little squeaky voice that he is hungry. Being food motivate is also another way to help get him used to being with you. He is fond of the cat mousse tubes, which can be a great training tool.

In foster care, Rodney has had access to an outdoor enclosure - and he loves being outside. That means Rodney would make a wonderful indoor/outdoor cat. He is not demanding of your time or needy. But affection and interaction is very much on his terms.

We are looking for a quiet home for this boy, as the rambunctious play of children and/or loud big dogs overwhelms him. He has been in foster care with a gentle, cat-friendly dog which Rodney tolerates. Only just.

Rodney would be fine being your only cat, but if you already have a cat it is important to know that Rodney has a dominating personality towards other cats. He would not do well with a shy or timid kitty as he would like boss that kitty around.
