About Toby
Toby is a male yellow Labrador raised and trained in the Assistance Dogs Australia program. He is 18 months old, he is desexed and is looking for his forever home!
Toby is a lovable and affectionate boy. He is very playful, bouncy and happy. He also loves to spend his time lying around and receiving lots of cuddles and pats. He is a highly intelligent and motivated dog, so he requires mental and physical stimulation. Toby enjoys training and being challenged so proper mental stimulation will further help him learn and maintain the cues that he has learnt so far.
Although Toby has shown some great qualities during his time in the Assistance Dogs Australia training program, we have decided that he is not suitable to be placed as an Assistance Dog. Toby can be distracted when out and about and can show a lack of engagement. He can be strong on lead and does display some reactivity. Toby would benefit from going to a home with either no children or older children. When Toby does find his ideal home he will benefit from some initial training to help him settle into his new environment.
All Assistance Dogs are accustomed to spending most of their time with humans so Toby’s ideal person or family would spend a lot of time at home with him. He would love to go to someone who leads an active lifestyle.
Toby is social with other dogs. If there is another dog in the home he goes to, we would like Toby to meet them. Toby needs to be walked daily and would love to have a yard to play in.
Toby is a healthy young dog. Vaccinations and parasite protection have been kept up to date. If you think Toby could be the right dog for you or you have any further questions, please email Mel at mwatson@assistancedogs.org.au so that I can pass on an application form for you to complete.
