Gretel is a sweet and cuddly kitty who loves to play, explore or find a nice place to snuggle up, preferably on your lap.

Overall Gretel is an outgoing kitty however, when she is unsure of something she will often dive into the nearest hidey hole. But it doesn't take much for her overcome this, and she is soon back out playing or asking for pats and cuddles.

This shyness is likely due to her rough start in life and a bad case of conjunctivitis* (see medical notes below). Gretel became untrusting of humans due to the need to medicate her when she first came into our care.

Because of this, Gretel required a little more time with her foster carer to build up her trust and confidence again.

As a result of this, we think it is best for Gretel not to go to a home with young children. Teens would be okay as long as they understand it may take a little while for Gretel to warm up to them in the beginning.

This gorgeous kitty is not big on being picked up, however she will gladly crawl onto your lap for a snuggle on her own.

Given how playful Gretel is, a home with lots of toys and humans who have time to play with her or has another playful kitty to keep her company is a must. Otherwise she can get into a little bit of mischief when bored.

Gretel would probably be okay with a friendly cat-savvy dog as long as they are introduced slowly over time.
