About Simba
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Simba
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to us as an owner surrender.
BREED: American Staffordshire Terrier X
General breed traits: American Staffordshire Terriers are quite high energy, playful, affectionate and intelligent but do require training as they can be headstrong. They are very social with adults and children and are extremely loyal but can suffer from separation anxiety if left for long periods. Their sociability with dogs is a facet that needs work from an early age.
ASSETS: He's quite shy initially, and due to his background lacks confidence, but is affectionate, laidback and sensitive. Simba is a most darling boy and once he trusts you is the sweetest dog you could wish to meet. He hasn't been exposed to many new people or situations so will need someone who will work with him to build his confidence in everyday life. In return you will get an extremely loyal and faithful companion.
FAVOURITE THINGS: He loves running on the beach and enjoys playing chasie with the other dog in his foster home and his carer. He loves his human and revels in his company.
ENDEARING FEATURES: He's a very loyal sweet boy and is very intelligent.
OTHER ANIMALS: He gets on well with other friendly dogs after gentle introduction and would love to live with another playful dog in his new home. He has shown chasing behaviour towards cats and small animals but does respond when told not to. We feel he would be better in a home without anything small and furry, just in case!
GENERAL INFO: Simba walks well on his lead and is housetrained. He will bark when he hears strange noises and due to his abusive past is initially fearful around new people. His new owner will need to take this into account and ensure his interactions are gentle and patient. Simba knows most commands and isn't destructive at all. Gentle encouragement and exposure will help him with his fears, so his new owner will need to be committed to this.
ESSENTIALS:
* Simba will take time to get used to a new environment and routine and could cope with a full time worker as long as there is a doggy friend for him to spend the day with but he would love his owner to be there more often than not.
* Once settled Simba would benefit greatly from professional training to give him structure and a solid foundation to grow from.
* Simba will need daily exercise. A good walk or run twice a day keeps him happy and healthy.
* Simba could live in a large, well fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things for him to sniff and explore. He could also live on a farmlet property or acreage - he is a bright boy and once well settled and happy will stay close to his home.
* Simba needs to be allowed to be inside or out as he chooses, to sleep inside at night and to be included as part of the family.
Due to his past, Simba would be best suited to a quiet and calm adult only, dog savvy home. He needs considerate and understanding owners who will treat him gently and be patient while he settles. Simba has had a difficult life but he is the most gorgeous gentle soul and deserves a home that will give him the love and commitment that he so deserves. With constancy and love Simba will be the most loyal and adorable companion you could wish for.
If Simba sounds like the perfect boy for you, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
