Note: Maple is a small wolfie – about 22. She does look larger in her photo.
Maple is the gentlest of girls. She is very happy to chill on the couch, nice soft doggy bed or right by your feet as you work or watch tv. She is also a beautiful shadow who will happily follow you around the house and garden. She is a big and we mean a BIG fan of belly rubs and chin scratches. If you stop or are near her and she’s in the mood for some affection she’ll sweetly lift her paw to touch you as a subtle hint. Food is another favourite of hers. She eats up all her dinner and sits so nicely for you to put her bowl down of before any treat.
Like so many other rescues she has had some rough experiences in life which has given her some anxiety. She is quite wary of men, sudden movements and loud voices. Maple is on medication for her anxiety and has come very far. Maple’s foster carers proudly report on Maple’s progress. Her confidence and curiosity are very evident around the home and her surroundings. She now does a happy dance when it’s her dinner time or when the carers get home.
Maple walks well on a lead. The start of a walk can be a challenge for Maple with a lot of movement around. When scared she’ll stop in her tracks and keep watch on whatever it is that has her worried. Her foster carer has been working with her on walks and all it takes is some calm patience, staying close to her so she knows she’s supported, and once she’s ready to walk again we’re off! Maple’s progress is evident on her walks with her improved confidence. Maple isn’t keen on little and/or yappy dogs and though a gentle girl has been known to headbutt a dog to communicate ‘please get out of my face’. Maple does tend to want to chase smaller dogs and we feel she’d be the same with cats. Therefore we’re seeking a household without them.
Maple is house trained. She is sweet, affectionate and an obedient companion – and she travels well in the car.
Looking for some delightful companionship? We see Maple in a chilled out home with no cats. Is that your home? Lets get started on the application!
Thank you to Hamish of Appleby Photography for the fantastic photos of Maple.

Medical notes
Maple is now on medication and she is starting to become more active and involved in what is going on. She is a little wobbly in the back legs, and only just tolerates the three steps at her current foster care home. She is on 4cyte.
Weight 22.5kg
Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
