About Leonardo
*In foster care in Marrickville, Sydney*
Lovely Leonardo is a clever, energetic, sweet little guy who loves to play endless games of fetch, hang out with his special people, and curl up on the couch at the end of a long day :)
Already well-trained, Leonardo knows all his basic commands and likes to show them off! Being so smart, he's also fantastic at learning new tricks and enjoy a challenge, like searching out the treats that you've hidden around the house. Speaking of - he's an excellent housemate with no destructive behaviours!
Leonardo loves heading out with you on walks around the neighbourhood, but doesn't like other dogs and can get quite stressed out around them. He's also a big fan of routine, so a home without too much regular change or upheaval would be perfect.
Like all Maggie's pets, Leonardo is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... would be with a person, couple or family who can spend plenty of time with me! I don't like being left alone too much; I'm definitely a 'people dog'. If I had to describe my Happy Place, it would have all my special humans nearby, lots of 'fetch' in the backyard, and pats and belly rubs on tap :)
My ideal family will also be very active, as I need at least one good walk every day to stay happy and healthy. When we're not out and about together, I'm content to just hang with you or doze peacefully at your feet while you work.
I do well with gentle and calm instruction, and I'll definitely thrive with further training!
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I'm an energetic young boy, so daily walks or runs are a must! Two would be ideal, or one long one should be OK. I'm great on the lead as long as there are no other dogs around, so I make a terrific running partner :)
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I enjoy the company of kids who are comfortable around dogs - children over the age of 5 tend to be best suited. I can get a bit shouty with nervous kids as they make me nervous too!
While I can handle the noise and bustle of a family household, it's not my favourite sort of environment. The extra pats and cuddles might make up for it, though!
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I'm very reactive to other dogs, though I've been practising 'no woofs' with my foster family. I might benefit from some socialisation training down the track, but for now I need a home without any pet siblings.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
