About Mika
Sweet little Mika is a sensitive soul who loves the comfort of great big hugs and has a purr bigger than he is. His little cherub face and baby pink nose are sure to melt your heart. He is playful and affectionate and an all-around beautiful boy, though he can be a bit shy in unfamiliar environments and around new people. He is just starting to actively seek attention, but loves to receive it (he will not jump up on your lap, for example, but if you pick him up he will sit with you and purr for hours).
Mika is a massive fan of big, comforting hugs (Have you ever had a cat hug you back? Because he does!) but was rather head-shy and could be a bit skittish when approached. Now that he is all better and his medical treatments have stopped, however, he has made incredible progress in a short time. He joins his siblings in competing for pats and no longer runs or cowers when you go to pick him up. He has always been affectionate, but he is actively seeking it out now, and we suspect this is just the beginning of his loving side. He is finally getting the safe, pain-free life that he deserves, and he is blossoming.
Mika adores his feline foster siblings of all ages and will play, pounce, and cuddle with them to his heart's content. He is very quiet, laid back, and low maintenance; he is fully litter trained. He will need to be an indoor-only cat to protect his fair features from the sun, as kitties with light pink noses and white ears are very prone to skin cancer. If he is allowed any outdoor time (though it is discouraged), it will need to be in a fully-enclosed area, because the outside world will be a bit too unpredictable and overwhelming for him.
It will most likely take Mika a little while to adapt to his new family/environment, but the incredible amount of love he has to give will make it well worth it in the end. He will go best in a home without loud noises, rambunctious children, dogs, or overbearing cats. Being adopted with one of his siblings could be very beneficial for him. He is a sensitive soul who needs a family who understands that good things might take a little time.

Medical notes
When Mika came into care, his eyes were quite infected. Even after the infection cleared, however, he never seemed to open his left eye (which is why he is winking in most of his kitten photos). After seeing an eye specialist, he and his siblings were diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Feline Eyelid Agenesis, which was more prevalent in his left eye. Mika had no upper eyelids, which made seeing nearly impossible. He was in constant discomfort, highly prone to infection, and had no way to prevent fur growing into his eyes (ouch!). If he had not been rescued, it is unlikely he would have survived on the streets with his condition.
Over several months, he underwent three rounds of reconstructive surgery (on both eyes), wherein some of his lower eyelids was grafted to the top of his eyes. His vision was saved and he was finally given relief from his chronic pain and infections. During this ordeal, poor Mika had to endure constant poking and prodding: eye-cleanings, oral medications (some of which were very yucky!), eye drops, cones, stitches, etc. This meant that many of his interactions with humans were unpleasant, and because he is a sensitive boy, he did not come out of his shell and learn to love life as quickly as his siblings.
Mika also had a very difficult desexing prior to his eye surgeries, wherein he developed a virulent infection and had to be put in intensive care for over a week. The vets fell in love with him, though, because he is such a sweetheart despite all of his hardships.
Now that the treatments are complete, Mika can now finally live the life he deserves. His eyes will be a bit smaller than most cats (they will continue to stretch a bit, as the final surgery was recent), but he can now life a full and happy life, free from discomfort and recurring infections.
