About Marmalade
If you need more love in your life, look no further. Marmalade is probably the most affectionate kitty you will ever meet, paws-down. This guy lives for love, love, love, and more love- he cannot get enough and has an endless supply to give. But unlike some kitties, he is not intrusive about it. He is quiet and gentle and an all-around mellow, gorgeous kitty. He adores belly rubs and head boops and cuddles in all forms. Even when he 'wrestles', he simply grabs your hand, pulls it to his mouth, and smothers it in kisses.
There is simply no way to fully express how sweet-natured this kitty is.
Marmalade is very tidy and very quiet (his carers are not sure they've ever heard him meow!). He is fully litter trained. He has a gorgeous bright pink nose and toe beans, and should be kept indoors to protect him from the sun (a bit of outdoor time in an enclosed area is ok, though). He grew very quickly and does not realise his size; he has been known to roll over in his chair for belly rubs and fall off the side. He's a goofy gentle giant who is certain to brighten your day and warm your heart.
Marmalade would do best in a home where he can get the love and affection he deserves. He is ok on his own, but would benefit greatly from humans who are around a lot. He ADORES his siblings and gives them hugs and cuddles as well (even when they aren't so keen- his eldest foster sister often tells him off but it doesn't seem to deter him!), so a cat who will welcome his affection would be fantastic. He has only been around his rescue/foster family, so he might be a bit shy in a new environment around new people, but as soon as he realises there is love to get and give, he will come out of his shell.
Marmalade would absolutely LOVE to be adopted with his sister, Moira Rose, because the two of them spend the day playing and cuddling and crowding the lap of the closest human. If you have room for two affectionate, gorgeous souls, please consider adopting them together.

Medical notes
Upon being examined by an eye specialist, Marmalade was diagnosed with Feline Eyelid Agenesis, a rare genetic condition that results in incomplete eyelid development. Marmalade had no upper eyelids, which made seeing nearly impossible. He was in constant discomfort, highly prone to infection, and had no way to prevent fur growing into his eyes (ouch!). If he had not been rescued, it is unlikely he would have survived on the streets with his condition.
Luckily, Marmalade was now in the best of hands. Over several months, he underwent three rounds of reconstructive surgery, wherein some of his lower eyelids was grafted to the top of his eyes. His vision was saved and he was finally given relief from his chronic pain. During this ordeal, poor Marmalade had to endure constant poking and prodding: eye-cleanings, oral medications (some of which were very yucky!), eye drops, cones, stitches, etc. This could make anyone grumpy, but despite all this, his love for humans never waivered.
Now that the treatments are complete, Marmalade can now finally live the life he deserves. His eyes will be a bit smaller than most cats (they will continue to stretch a bit, as the final surgery was recent), but he can now life a full and happy life, free from discomfort.
