About Beetle. Special needs but amazing!!
Get your reading eyes on... this is a long one! :D
Beetle is a quirky and delightful little guy who overcame a rough start to life, he contracted cat flu from his mum when he was only weeks old and almost didn't make it. But to the surprise of his foster carers he became stronger and stronger and they watched his little body race around the bathroom where he was quarantined, making a game of shoe laces, toilet rolls, toys, anything he could find :D
With his strength came his resilient and hilarious character, he has a fighting spirit and personality in droves! He's 'special needs' in that having cat flu at such a young age did some damage to his respiratory system and as a result his breathing sound 'like a staffy' his foster carer tells us :D, and he does the occasional snotty sneeze. You wouldn't know he's disabled by looking at him though as he's always leaping around the house full of energy and positivity! Everyone who meets him falls in love with him, he's definitely going to make his forever family very happy!
He's happiest when running around the house at full speed and play fighting with his foster brothers - a puppy and two adult cats. He's also great with kids ranging from newborn to 10 years. He's used to being in a busy household with someone home most of the time but would also be ok with no hoomans at home, as loDrng as he has a cat or dog buddy to muck around with. When his energy bursts are complete, his favourite thing is to cuddle into a fluffy blanket on the couch next to his people and purr himself to sleep. He enjoys being picked up and cuddled but when it comes to snoozing he prefers to sleep next to you rather than on your lap.
He doesn't need much in terms of managing his health but his new family should be the type who see their furbabies as their children and will do all the right things for them. You could be a cat owner who's familiar with cat flu but this isn't necessary, if you're going to love Beetle for who he is and give him the care he deserves you'll be fine, and we'll advise and support you all the way :)
Beetle's care should include:
- Quality dry food as his staple diet. A brand like Ivory Coat or Advance has the nutrients required to boost Beetle's immune system. Other brands at this level of the market would also be fine. Please note if you usually feed your cats brands such as Whiskas, Friskies, Felix etc, or would intend to with Beetle, he is not the cat for you.
- Regular vet checks. Simple checkups will keep Beetle at his best and help your vet get on top of any little flu flare ups that may happen in the colder months or sporadically.
- 24/7 indoor living is an absolute must, an enclosure off the house or leash training would be fine as long as he's able to be inside on cold days. Also he should be in a heated room or crated with a hot water bottle on Winter nights.
- A low stress life is also imperative, if Beetle was without a fur-sibling, enough stimulation or enough time with his people, he would be lonely and stress is a known cause for cat flu flare ups.
- There's a few supplements that may be of benefit but if all the above is in place he shouldn't need them.
All in all Beetle has no more needs than a normal cat and a family who go above and beyond for their fur-kids will find his care easy. And be rewarded a thousand fold by the love and laughs this little guy has to give. Don't miss out on Beetle being your special little man, he's most definitely one of kind :D <3
Medical notes
* Please ensure you've read the last paragraph in Beetle's profile regarding his cat flu and how to keep him healthy moving forward.
** Any existing cats in your home should be fully vaccinated before Beetle joins your family as a cat who has had past cat flu has it for life, similar to how humans have Herpes for life once contracted, and can still pass it on in future even if not symptomatic. Regular vaccinations protect cats from cat flu.
*** PLEASE NOTE OUR INDOOR CAT POLICY
Most of our cats were either born, or lived for some time, on the street and have only ever known the outside world to be a source of fear and survival of the fittest. So although they've been rehabilitated and are in most ways domesticated by adoption, they will 100% return to fearful behaviour if let outside. Hence we have an indoor only policy (or indoor with access to an enclosure, netted area or leash walking) unless clearly stated in an individual cat's profile. Please consider this before making an enquiry. Thankyou <3

About Sunny Days:
Sunny Days Rescue & Rehab is a registered charity, foster care network and private shelter, focusing on the rescue, rehab and rehoming of ‘true stray’ cats - cats who've never had experience with humans or a human home.
The overall objective of our organisation is to:
💕 successfully physically and psychologically rehabilitate terrified cats and find them homes which understand their needs and are compassionate to their history,
💕 remove complete stray cat colonies from the community and ensure they will never breed again or be back on the street again,
💕 provide an example of the potential to rehab unsocialised cats to other organisations who may not have understood or attempted to achieve that potential before,
💕 educate the community on how many stray cats are hiding in the dark corners of community trying to survive and that desexing is the only way to begin to lessen these numbers and the resulting suffering,
💕 provide an opportunity for volunteers to learn animal husbandry and handling skills to a high level which may help them in their future work in animal welfare and as pet owners,
💕 and provide an opportunity for compassionate people to come together and pool their skills for the betterment of a demographic of animal that is mostly ignored and misunderstood despite us humans being their source and the reason they even exist.
Please support us in our important work by clicking the pink DONATE button on this page. Thankyou! 💕
