About Bonnie Van der Velden
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION OF BONNIE PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html
Bonnie is your typical wolfhound - sometimes lazy, gentle and very affectionate. She is mostly placid and loves to follow you around the house. She comes over for a pat and wants to be next to you but is not overbearing, sometimes she will just get on her bed and curl up and sleep. Bonnie is great with people, she greets strangers on her walk with friendliness and confidence. She gets along with the male Ridgeback / Lab she shares her foster home with and we are in the process of testing how she behaves around smaller dogs.
Bonnie walks well on lead but if she sees something of interest she will stop suddenly to investigate. She can be persuaded to leave it and keep walking. Bonnie is house trained and can "sit", "drop" and "stay" however there are occasions when she doesn't follow command.
Ideally, her new home would be with a person or people who are around most of the time. An adult home or family with older children would be best, just due to her size. Bonnie loves people and all she wants is to be with you as you go about your day. Exercise is an important part of Bonnie's world. She gets to stretch her joints and be provided with mental stimulation which keeps her content with the world.
Bonnie will be a wonderful companion. We think she is amazing and we know you will too!
Bonnie is not tested with cats.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer a six-week full refund, free assistance for six weeks for any issues, and a lifetime takeback policy with a fifty percent refund of the adoption fee, and of course an invitation to our adopters’ Christmas party.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
