About Smokey
*Please read Smokey's profile closely as he has some additional needs*
Hi my name is Smokey and I am simply the cutest and friendliest kitten around. I am completely blind, but I do not let that stop me at all! I can easily navigate around, and love to play just like every other kitten, although, I hunt my toys by sound instead.
My foster mum says that I am the most snuggly, friendly kitten she has ever met! I love, love, love people and will turn on the purr machine as soon as I know there is a person in the same room as me and I won't stop. My favourite thing is chin scratches, and if the humans are not giving me enough I will push my face into their hands so I get more!! I love sleeping right on top of them, and snuggling up in their laps. Pats are just the best!
Because I am blind, loud noises can scare me a bit, and I like to have a quick sniff of whoever is around so I can work out who they are. For this reason I would do best in a quiet home, or a home with an older child. Although I can't see, I am still very playful like any kitten, so would love to have a friendly cat in my new home so we can be best friends, although a dog might be a bit much for me! My ideal home would also need to not have any stairs, or very high places where I might fall off as it is just a little hard for me to work out how high something is when trying to come down. I must be an indoor only cat.
Don't let the fact that I can't see scare you away, it does not affect me much at all and I will give you more love than you can handle!
Medical notes
Smokey is a happy healthy kitten. He is completely blind in one eye. His other eye may have some very minimal vision, such as light vs dark, but it is thought any vision in this eye is minimal to none. Smokey's blindness is a congenital condition (i.e. he was born with it) and it does not cause him any pain or discomfort and there is no expected ongoing treatment or vet input required for it. As he was born blind Smokey has learnt to rely on his other senses so his lack of sight does not have much of an impact on his daily life.
