About Finbar
Don’t let the fluffy old boy fool you… he is not as cute and cuddly as we would hope.
Sadly, Finbar (Barry at home) has not had a lot of socialisation or life experience. He has been a yard dog with little contact with people or other dogs, this does make him nervous and reactive in new situations.
There is a sweet boy in there, that wants to be a good companion but he needs someone to give him time, as much as he needs so he can feel safe and doesn’t act out.
Barry will take a while to feel safe in his new home. He needs a single person or couple that just ignores him for the first few weeks or months until he seeks out human interaction. The most suitable home would be someone who understands and is accepting of a hands offs approach with him until he feels comfortable and then let him guide you as to what he’s comfortable with.
In terms of other dogs, he will be happiest with dogs that do not want to interact with him and preferably small in size. He is barky, however we are hoping this settles when he is more comfortable and overall becoming a happy dog.
Now we know one way to get to his heart… is a WALK. This boy glows with happiness and is completely different going for a residential walk.
Barry needs chance. A chance to see the world is a fun place. A chance to see that love comes from people and affection provides a warming feeling.
He is not for the inexperienced. He needs someone who has done this before, who understands and has patience. Someone who loves seeing a transformation and changing this little guys life.
He will require someone home most days, no children or cats and if you have a dog, small, quiet and happy to do their own thing.
Medical notes
Left knee stage 3 Luxating patella and arthritis. Currently on steroid injections and cathrophen injections to help manage the pain. He has skin dermatitis, mostly likely due to flea allergy and is currently receiving Malaseb wash once a week and Antinol which we believe will sort the skin out.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
