About Blondie
Blondie loves the chilled life. She is the perfect lady in the home. Happy to relax on the couch or her bed with her humans close by. She may follow you about the house until you decide where you will both settle. If you do go out Blondie will welcome you back home with the biggest grin, a dance, and a dangerously waggy tail. You may notice Blondie has found your shoe or slipper to move about the house waiting for its owner to return home.
Blondie is currently getting one daily walk in the early evening but would be keen for more. Blondie has not been very well socialised with other dogs and can be quite reactive and pull on the lead when she sees them in the distance. She would need a home where they are willing to do some training with her and let her have some space from dogs out on her walks. Her current carers are managing her well and have got into the habit of crossing the street when another dog is coming and avoiding peak dog walking times and places. Blondie's new owners will have support from Gumtree Greys with training. This aside, she loves a good sniff and meeting people and happily trots along on her walks.
Blondie also adores car trips and other adventures with you. Blondie has also learned some basic commands such as “on your bed”, and “lay down”. She is currently being crate trained and seems to be very comfortable with it.
Our usually elegant Blondie will often flip over on her back in a less lady-like fashion and “roach” on her bed showing a belly in need of a rub and more loving attention from her human.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
