About Esmay
Esmay is a whirlwind of energy and loves to spend her time burning off all her excess energy by playing with her sister and other canine friends. While she can be timid around strangers, Esmay is super friendly and loves being around people. She is an affectionate girl, who enjoys getting lots of cuddles and kisses after a good day spent playing out in the backyard. Esmay is a delightful young puppy to be around and is sure to put a smile on her humans’ faces with her playful nature. She enjoys her fun in the sun, passing the time with games of chase, tug-of-war and her modified version of fetch (the ‘fetch’ aspect is still a bit lost on her). Esmay loves her chew toys and bones, often winding down playtime by laying down and gnawing on her chew toys.
Esmay prefers playing over training and can get easily distracted. She can take a little longer to learn new skills or commands and may benefit from being taught in a different manner so she can better understand what she is expected to do. Esmay has perfected her ‘sit’ command and is currently working on her ‘stop’ command. Esmay loves playing with children as their energy often matches hers which may mean that she sometimes gets a bit too excited when meeting them. Unfortunately Esmay doesn’t walk well on a lead, but with some practise, she is sure to get the hang of it. She loves being outside, enjoying her walks where she is able to explore and discover new things. Esmay is not huge of crowds and would prefer a quiet home where exposure to a crowd would be minimal.
Esmay will need to be with humans who will continue her training in addition to helping her practise the commands she has already learnt while being understanding and providing positive reinforcement for when she struggles to understand what she is being taught. Esmay is also an active girl who will need humans who are dedicated to ensuring that she gets lots of exercise and cuddles, and who will provide her with sufficient mental stimulation to keep her busy. Please note that she will not be ready to go to her forever home until she has received her 16 weeks vaccination and her desexing will be completed at 6 months as part of the adoption agreement.

MEET & GREET
We encourage all adopters to meet their new addition before committing to adoption. This gives you a chance to see if the animal might be a good fit, and if a dog, to also introduce them to your other animals. Just like we don't expect all humans to get along, we expect the same for animals.
ADOPTION AGREEMENT
At CQASI our animals future is paramount and we want to see them put into their forever homes. Every detail on our agreement is used to ensure your home is suitable for a new addition, that you agree to the terms and conditions and we also use some of the info for owner transfer after the adoption trial period (mentioned further down)
HOME/YARD CHECK
All our cats are indoor/outdoor enclosure only so all house checks are done when your feline friend is being dropped off to join your household. If the barking variety is what you are looking at adding to your home then one of our volunteers will contact you to arrange a day/time for a yard check. This is to check your fencing is suitable, see where your new canine will be sleeping and just get a general feel for the home they will be going to. All our adoptions tend to be local, but we have connections all over QLD so are more than happy to consider all serious adoption enquiries. A house/yard check will be done if we can get a local member (if adoption enquiry is not Rockhampton based) to assist.
ADOPTION FEE
Adoption fee is to be paid prior to collecting your new family member. The adoption fee is used to cover the vet work your new addition received. This includes - but is not limited to Desexing, vaccination/s, microchipping, parasite treatment/prevention (heart worm testing for dogs only).
TWO WEEK TRIAL
All our animals have a two week trial period. This gives your new addition time to settle into your family life and to give you a chance to ensure they are exactly what you want. If they are not settling in then we will arrange to take them back into care and you will be refunded the adoption fee. If after the two weeks they are exactly what you wanted then we will send you all their paperwork including sterilisation certificate, vaccination certificate and microchip transfer form.
Our aim is a beautiful goodbye into their new home. We treat any potential adoption with the upmost care as the animals safety and welfare is our number one concern.
