About Cappucino
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS - CHILDREN OVER 8 OR GUINEA PIG EXPERIENCED FAMILY - PHOTOS OF INDOOR ENCLOSURE READY PRIOR TO ADOPTION - OTHER MALE GUINEA PIGS
Hello! My name is Cappucino and I was born in foster care. I am getting braver and will eat veggies from your hand and during lap time but I am still a baby and still getting used to being handled (I can be very squirmy)so I will need a patient human who understands that I need lots of gentle and consistent handling to help me blossom into a confident, well-socialised piglet. However, to help me settle into my new home, I will initially need space and time to get to know you before you can carefully pick me up. Hand feeding me tasty food such as cos lettuce, capsicum, baby cucumbers and guinea pig treats is a good start to earning my trust. Guinea pigs feel the cold and heat just like humans do, and as it is currently winter, I will definitely need a suitable indoor enclosure as being a baby I will not be able to cope with the cold Canberra winter outdoors. Guinea pigs are social creatures and are generally happier when they have company. I would love to live with another friendly male guinea pig but we would need to be carefully introduced. For a pair of guinea pigs, the RSPCA knowledgebase recommends a minimum enclosure size of 2m x 0.5m x 25cm high and ideally have access to a safe, secure larger area where we can run and exercise. Guinea pigs can live up to 8 years and are NOT 'easy first time starter pets to get for young children' - they take just as much time, responsibility and need the same amount of love and care as other pets to keep them healthy and happy. If you're a piggy person who is willing to commit the time, patience and love then please follow the link below to book an appointment.
IMPORTANT: Following Government guidelines during the COVID-19 Pandemic we are reducing foot traffic at our Shelter. If you are interested in meeting this animal with a view to adoption - please book an appointment through the link provided https://www.rspca-act.org.au/adoption-appointments
