Captain

2.5 year-old blue boy Captain is currently accepting applications for his perfect forever humans.

Captain loves a cuddle and is very good at following you around with big puppy-dog eyes seeking treats and meals. He doesn’t mind a car ride, walks nicely on-leash, and enjoys exploring his local neighbourhood.

Captain is fan of the treasure hunt and finds his humans belongings fascinating. He has a penchant for taking socks to bed and is not averse to “borrowing” whatever random objects are lying about. Captain is learning ‘drop’ and ‘trade up’ and slowly working out what toys are for him. His forever humans will be careful not to leave things that might be harmful to dogs, or things they don’t want slobbered on, in reach while Captain continues to learn. There’s lots of DIY enrichment toys that we can suggest to re-direct his sock cravings too.

Captain LOVES food and will point his long nose at his food container if he thinks you are taking too long with dinner. He is also very responsive to rewards-based training and has already learned ‘wait’ (for dinner) and ‘free’ (when it’s time to eat).

Captain hasn’t had much opportunity to socialise with other dogs, so his new home should take introductions slowly. He hasn’t shown much interest in dogs he has passed on walks but currently lives in a quiet neighbourhood. He is quite happy living as an only dog with all of the attention reserved especially for him. He could potentially be rehomed with another greyhound or large breed dog, pending introductions.

Captain has spent periods of up to 4 hours home alone so far, and amuses himself by napping and eating treats. He usually stays outside with appropriate bedding and shelter when home alone, and if left indoors its important to move things you don’t want him to play with and provide enrichment. Even though Captain is okay home alone, he adores his humans and would prefer not to go to a home where he’ll be by himself for FT working hours. He loves a play and a zoomie and ideally Captain's forever home will have some outdoor space.
