About Ziggy ~ 1yr Old Shar Pei X(on trial 6/7/21)
Beautiful miss Ziggy is a 1yr old Shar Pei x Staffy. Full of energy and affection, Ziggy is the ultimate companion. She loves nothing more than a wrestle, and time spent playing fetch or tug of war with her toys. She loves being around her humans and getting all the hugs and pats.
Ziggy can often be found right under your feet wherever you are, or wrestling outside with her foster brother. Ziggy is suited to a family who are active and playful, who will involve her in activities and outings and let her snuggle inside when she is tired of an evening. She loves being anywhere you are and especially likes a cuddle on the bed. Ziggy’s family would need to be willing to have her inside for sleeping.
Ziggy’s short hair means minimal hair loss and grooming, and she happily sleeps on her bed
once she is exhausted from the day’s activities. Ziggy gets along very well with other dogs and loves a play bite and wrestle match. She is affectionate and can often be found on her foster brother’s bed snuggled up beside him in the evening. She shows patience and understanding around food and will wait for her turn to eat and her meal to be dished up.
Ziggy knows some commands such as sit, shake and wait, and would benefit from more training as her attention span can be limited. She is a strong, muscly girl and will pull on the lead, so training in this area would help her to understand what is expected of her outside the home. Ziggy is still learning right from wrong and loves to steal bits and pieces from the house to take outside. She is house trained but still needs to be reminded now and then to settle down inside. You can always find her underfoot in the kitchen waiting for a treat.
Ziggy is suited to a family with another dog, or where someone is at home to keep her company. She shows suitable behaviour around children. She may jump up on humans when she is excited however further training should minimise this behaviour. She is food-motivated and loves food; she will eat anything you give her. Ziggy is a great guard dog and will certainly let you know when someone is visiting or close by, however she does not show any nuisance barking behaviour. If left alone she can become bored and can show some mischievous doggy behaviour – some treat toys to keep her busy will help with this.
Ziggy has shown no signs of aggressive or trouble behaviour, and responds to her name and
commands well. She will truly make a loving companion for a family who will show her patience whilst she learns the house rules.
Ziggy is in foster care in the Newcastle Region NSW. For more information or to meet
