About Socks
SOCKS is a very handsome 9yr old male border collie x cattle dog, looking for a safe and loving home.
Socks has lived happily and securely in a family environment since he was rescued half a dozen years ago as a stray in a country town. He was very reluctantly surrendered to us recently due to a change in his family's circumstances and definitely through no fault of his own.
This boy has a lovely temperament and is very well-mannered. He is great with children and other dogs, but is not so keen on cats. He weighs 25 kgs.
More than anything, Socks loves human company. He is an absolute sponge for human affection and will make an affectionate, loyal and devoted companion or family dog.
Behaviourally, Border Collie/Cattle Dogs are a brilliant mix. Energetic, eager to please, mild-mannered, highly intelligent, quick to learn and train - and quintessentially Australian.
If you are interested in meeting Socks, the first step is to complete our online application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ and an ARK volunteer will be in touch.
Socks will NOT cope if left alone in a backyard for extended periods, so is not suitable to full-time workers. Preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time.
He is also accustomed to having plenty of space as he spent the last six years or so living on acreage. Secure fencing is essential.
His adoption fee is $395 and he is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
Applicants must be willing to travel to Warwick, Queensland to meet Socks.
