⢠A playful resident dog preferred
June is an affectionate, dog and cat-friendly girl looking for a forever home where she can adore you, constantly! She will thrive with a dog buddy and adult who works from home. She weighs 21 kg and sometimes jumps up to give hugs, so would be best placed with older kids or a no kids household.
TRAINING ā June is super food motivated and learns fast. Toilet training is going well, but there are still occasional indoor accidents. When meeting a new dog, June sometimes forgets her doggy manners in sheer excitement and sheās still getting the hang of walking on a lead. A dog companion and further training will help her learn the ropes. June is very clever and loves treats, making training a joy.
PERSONALITY - June is incredibly loving. While June finds most things scary at first, she has never shown signs of aggression. Once she knows youāre safe, June is chirpy and wants to be as close to you as she can, tail wagging constantly. She will sleep by your side as you work from home and sit on your lap while youāre on the couch. She is happy and loving and will stick to you like a barnacle for cuddles.
BEING LEFT ALONE - June has displayed deep anxiety when left alone and is not a dog who can be left for long. She needs a full-time doggy buddy or she will fret and could become destructive. She has been living in a house with a medium sized yard with high fences, which she will need in her new home as she is clever and may try to get out if sheās missing her human.
ACTIVITY LEVELS ā June is learning to go for walks and will need daily physical and mental exercise to avoid her anxiety taking over. She loves food puzzles, the Kong and running around the backyard. She is a fit dog and will need daily walks and exercise.
CRATE TRAINED - June happily sleeps in her crate from about 10pm to 7am, and is ready with an excited tap dance when she sees you in the morning. She did show some excellent Houdini skills on the first few nights in foster care, so her crate is now reinforced with carabiners and Velcro straps.
FOOD HABITS ā June is a speedy eater, even when using a slow-feeding bowl or playing with the Kong. She loves food puzzles but doesnāt know how to play with toys or chase a ball yet. When left alone she will look for snacks and will go through the recycling bin searching for treats. These scavenging habits appear to be easing as she has been experienced care and regular meals in foster care.
YOU ā If youāre someone who is home most of the time, already has a friendly dog and who is committed to ongoing socialisation, exercise and training, June may be the right match for you.
