About Spike
Hello World, My name is Spike and unlike my name suggests, I’m a super, loveable softy!
Here are a few tidbits about me:
- I can be a little shy at first, but I warm up as soon as I know you are going to give me a big back scratch!
- I’m mostly used to city life – trams, roads, etc, but still jump at a flapping wheelie bin lid!
- I’ve been digging 2 walks a day. I love them and will leap and spin in excitement at the prospect of one!
- I quite like my small plushy toys, especially that chirpy carrot of mine. I’d love to show you how to throw it!
- I’m all about cuddles, I love showing my love and affection and I’m definitely not afraid to rub myself against you, tucking my face in your nooks and neck.
- I’m big on the naps and snooze the day through.
- I’m a mature, 6 year old good boy, looking for the love(s) of my life.
- I have been told that I am the most gentle, soft and Zen dog on earth!
What I’m looking for in the love(s) of my life are:
- Patient and willing to give me time and encouragement to get a little more brave (I’m definitely on the way!)
- Will go on romantic long walks with me
- Will cuddle me and let me throw these long limbs on you
- Give me morning head pats and belly rubs!
- Will laugh when I scratch myself against random objects – I don’t have fingers that can itch those hard to scratch places
- Is about often or works from home, I don’t like to be left alone too long!
- Has a single story house – these legs weren’t made for walking flights of stairs!
Summary:
- WFH or part time workers (somewhere with people home more often than not)
- MUST have another dog of medium to large size
- No children under 10
- Not cat friendly and has not been tested with small dogs.
Adoption details
STEP 1 – ENQUIRE & EOI FORM:
Click 'Enquire about this pet' to contact us or email us at adoptions@greytgreys.org to express interest in the hound that you are looking at. We'll send you an EOI form, this must be returned before proceeding.
If the greyhound you have applied for is unavailable or unsuitable, we can match you with a more suitable greyhound. We may have a hound in foster care who might be well suited to your family.
STEP 2 – LET'S CHAT:
We'll phone you to discuss suitability, clarify any points of your application and chat process and next steps.
STEP 3 – HOUSE CHECK & MEET + GREET:
We'll come to you! The meet + greet is conducted at the same time that a house check is carried out. The meet + greet is the day that your newly adopted greyhound will be able to stay on with you.
Our adoption fee is $350.00 and must be paid on on the day of the meet + greet, and prior to starting your 3 week trial. Support from our team is freely available. If you have any issues, we urge you to contact us to try and work through them, as all rescue greyhounds have some period of adjustment.
If after the 3 week trial, you feel that you need to return the greyhound, we will refund your adoption fee (less a $50 administration fee), upon return of the dog and all paperwork and other items that the dog was adopted with.
All of our hounds are adopted out with the following:
> Collar, lead & coat
> Certificate of sterilisation & vaccination
> Flea & worm treated
> Care information for your newly adopted greyhound
> Access to our private Facebook page for foster carers, volunteers and adopters of our hounds. A community with invaluable advice and support.
