About Callie
Meet the beautiful big teddy girl Callie
Callie is an Akita and breed experience or similar breed is a must to apply.
Callie is a gentle, energetic 1 year old Akita who weighs about 28kgs. Callie is a typical puppy who is curious about anything and everything. and only being a 12 month old is still very much a fun and playful big puppy.
She is such a sweet girl but if not raised right this breed does have the ability to be quite a handful
She will find things to keep herself entertained when you are not home or find things she shouldn't while you're using them and play games lol Try sweeping while she is around !!!!!
Obedience and Training
Callie can sit on command and give you her paw when it is meal time and takes treats very gently. She comes when you say - come here and we are currently practicing "stay". She loves to run around the backyard and do zoomies with bounce and enthusiasm. She is still learning how to play with toys so this is all seemingly new to her. She is still learning how to walk on a lead and harness but so far doing really really well and with more practice and training - she will be amazing.
Being a big pup of course the more time you dedicate the better she will become
Temperament
Callie does not bark much and has a high pitch tone while she is communicating with you ( breed trait) . She does occasionally bark when there is a new person at the house but is easily settled. She will need things to keep her occupied if she is going to be alone for long periods like a bone or toys. and keeping her exercised certainly will help. Taking her for regular exercise and walks will be fantastic for her.
She has a very lovely temperament with strangers for this breed but as she is a pup still this could change hence why we are seeking an experienced owner or similar breed experience
Sleeping
Callie has been sleeping inside on the couch or the floorboards and she generally takes herself to bed about 9pm. She will need to go out for a toilet break before that time. Callie likes you to come outside with her when she goes out.
Socialization
Callie has met a few doggy friends at the local dog park and loves to run around - she still needs to learn to play a bit gentler. She runs after balls but not sure what to do with them yet and footballs. She is very playful and full of energy. She gives nice kisses when she is quiet and it's lovely to be with her. She meets new people with a friendly greeting and loves to get pats from them. Callie has tested well with dogs she has met but based on her breed I am hesitant to place her with another dog
If there is another dog in residence it must me male and must have a good temperament with others.
We have NOT tested her with cats or other pets so will not be placing her with other pets
Diet
Callie has been eating prime and dry food with greek yoghurt, fresh banana which she seems to like. She loves beef tendons, ducky jerky and pigs ears. She is not sure about vegetables
which seem foreign to her at this stage.
Travel
She loves to hop in the car and go on adventures in the back seat with her seat belt on. She loves the window down a little to smell the fresh air. It may be a good idea to put a couple of toys in the car for her to keep herself occupied. She loves to look out the front of the car to see where she is going. She tends to put her right paw on the middle console and the left paw on the passenger side near the headrest to stabilise herself.
