About Scarlett ~Wolfhound X(Pending meet & greet 5/7/21)
Meet striking Scarlett, a loving and cuddly 5 1/2 year old female wolfhound x Lhasa Apso who is looking for her forever family. Don’t be fooled by the wolfhound genes, this little lady is medium sized at just 13-14kg. Scarlett has grown up in a very loving home and will remain there until she finds her new forever home.
Scarlett just loves her people and wants nothing but cuddles to make her life complete. If given the chance she would love to be your lap dog and is happy spending lots of her day curled up on the sofa with you. She loves to meet new people and is interested in the outside world. Although a bit of alounge lizard, when given the opportunity she absolutely loves a run and a play and will often be found doing zoomies in the backyard before settling back down to some relaxation time.
Unfortunately, as she has got older, Scarlett has become less and less happy sharing her humans with her furry doggy and cat siblings. She is no longer getting along with her older doggy sister in particular and has developed some anxiety as a result. It is critical that Scarlett move to a home where she is the only furry family member and is able to lap up all your love and attention. Scarlett does not have the same issues with her little human brother whom she loves and is incredibly gentle with so she could share a home with children.
Scarlett will need a new family who are willing to put some time in to helping her settle into her new home and will need to engage with a vet to determine a long-term plan that continues to address her anxiety as she is currently on medication to help her manage this. Scarlett has a particular fear of storms and wears a thunder jacket when storms occur to help, alongside the anxiety medication. She is housetrained and will need to be welcomed inside with you when you are home and will want to be cuddled up with you when storms happen so she feels safe. She would be best in a home where there is someone home more often than not but does not appear to get overly stressed when home alone for 4-6 hours at a time. She has her basic training including sit and bed, but she is easily distracted when out and about and is not good at recall. She is motivated by treats which are great for training, but is a picky eater when it comes to her dinner and will sometimes go up to 24 hours without eating much, hoping for some delicious human food instead of her dog food. Scarlett loves to run around and play but needs careful introduction to other dogs and is not suited to busy dog parks as it is all a bit too overwhelming.
If you are looking for a lap dog who will show you nothing but unconditional love and affection, then Scarlett is your girl! Her affectionate, gentle nature will make her a great addition to any family so if you think Scarlett is your perfect match, get in touch!
