About Zeus
Zeus is a Pomeranian x, approximately 4 years old and was found as a stray and taken to the pound. We feel that he has a rough start in life and may have had some not nice things happen to him.
It takes him a little while to trust and initially he will be uncertain and frightened. Initially for me I had to use slow movements when approaching him and soothing tones to let him know I was a friend before I could pat him. After 3 weeks with me he settled in and I gained his trust. I can now approach him in a loud manner and pick him up and give him cuddles and kisses, and he welcomes them.
Zeus has learned basic obedience skills and walks politely on lead. He can sit and drop and hold those obedience commands under moderate distractions. His off-lead recall is coming along nicely, although more work will be needed by his adopted family before you can take him off lead.
He is also learning good manners and polite behaviour, such as not jumping on people and waiting at doorways for permission to enter. Also, that the couch is an invitation only - although he is still a bit cheeky on the couch, he is doing well.
Zeus would be able to live with another non dominant dog who wasn’t in his face, however he would equally be happy to have you to himself. He would not be suitable for a family with young (under 15) children, or for a boisterous dog. Zeus is also cat friendly. Zeus’ ideal family would be with a mature person or couple, who would not let children or grandchildren into his personal space. He will also not suit a situation where he is not given any rules, his start to life requires a kind, patient and strong leader so he can feel safe and relax. Whoever wins his trust, will have to earn it by being consistently firm but kind with rules.
He is not fazed about being home alone, once settled, so someone who works would still be a great option, as Zeus loves to amuse himself racing around the back yard. No apartments please, he’ll love a garden.
Please send an email requesting an application form if you feel like you can fulfil all of Zeus’ requirements. No consideration will be given to people with young kids, grandkids or regular visiting children so please don’t ask.
Medical notes
Zeus has no major medical requirements
