About Ricore
The favourite child. Ricore is a mummy’s boy always trying to wiggle up to reach the best snuggle spot, cheek to cheek. He knows he has those puppy dog eyes and will hold that eye contact with you to communicate. You will not win a stare competition with him! Once you give in and the tail wags, so does the rest of his body in a big Mexican wave.
Ricore likes to observe scenarios first before heading in. He is now confident meeting new doggy friends. He will need a home that knows the right way how to grow his confidence and provide guidance around new situations and new dogs. He will not be ready for a dog park scenario and will need controlled exposure to build his confidence. He loves his foster sibling and plays follow the leader with her. He does like to play rough and tumble when he’s confident, as well as a good game of tug-of-war.
Ricore has two speeds: Playing and cuddling. He loves playing with other dogs and does so well. He is very vocal in his play, which will require management by owners to ensure its not taken the wrong way by other dogs or people. After a big play he likes to snuggle up with his human for a power nap and recharge for the next round of plays.
In regard to toilet training, he is doing pretty good and always goes when taken outside. Like any puppy this young he is still having some mishaps but is doing great for his age. Best part is that he always poops outside. He understands “Go to the toilet’ however in typical staffy fashion doesn’t like his paws getting wet so rain does make the toilet training a tad harder.
Ricore wasn’t the biggest fan of the cars and can get sick. This is improving and we expect this is more nerves than motion sickness and further playtime and treat sessions in the stationary car will help. He has enjoyed bush walking outings where he sticks close to his foster parents plodding along.
He has adapted quite quickly to the lead and his future home will have to keep working on this and his other training. His recall is on point and will sit on command. He sleeps overnight in the crate. He does cry for the first part but settles after. We have worked hard to gain his independence and expect a future home to continue boundaries to ensure he becomes a well-balanced dog. He has been exposed to children. In normal puppy fashion was a bit too jumpy with the smaller ones trying to play but continued exposure would ensure he learns appropriate manners.
Ricore has shown signs he will be a typical confident staffy type as he grows up so he will thrive with Staffy experienced owners. Both parents were of a strong American staffy size and build so these pups are expected to grow to be between 30-40kg in size. He wants to play rough and tumble with his doggy friends, which is not always appreciated.
We will be looking for an owner who has leadership to manage his play and to ensure he learns boundaries for play. As cute and cuddly as he is, he will rely heavily on a committed family to training and exposure to ensure he develops into a social and well-mannered dog.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
