About Lani and Umeko
Hello everyone, so very nice to meet you. We are the beautiful bonded sisters, Lani (meaning "Flower" in Mouri) and Umeko (meaning "Plum Blossom Child" in Japanese). We are both very much alike in our looks with the only real difference being that Umeko has a more prominent white patch on her chest. We have silky soft smooth fur and, even though we are classed as domestic short hair, the vet does think that we are a cross with Oriental somewhere along the line.
Sadly, we had a pretty rough start to life as we also lost our parents within a month of each other. Firstly our Dad - someone had hurt him quite badly but he managed to get home and he passed away that night. Then a couple of weeks later, something really nasty happened to our Mumma as she was hurt very badly but she, too, managed to crawl home to us, her little babies, but she also sadly passed away. It was not long after that that we were both surrendered without our brother as the man who had us wouldn't let him come with us.
But, even though we had a sad start in life, we are typical of twins and are fiercely independent. We are very bonded and sleep and clean each other. We love to play with each other - we do play with our foster brothers but we find them a big rough some times. When you come to meet us, we will be a little reserved and wary at first but once we know you are a safe human being, we soon will become friends with you. We love pats - they get our purr motor revving big time - but we are still learning to like being picked up and cuddled. But what we really really love is laps! Once we know you are safe, we will be waiting for you to sit down so that we can pounce on your lap for a snuggle. We will often both try to squeeze on because we both love laps sooooooo much. We don't really have a favourite toy but we do play with the ribbons kicker and the ball in the ring. Oh and we do like to pounce on the toy mice and bat them around. And we often will bat the balls around and chase them, too.
Our foster Mumma says that Umeko is the more confident of us two. She will climb and investigate and she will most likely be the first to come meet you. Lani is more hesitant but is the one more keen to snuggle with you for longest. Lani is the best eater of the two, however, with Umeko being a little bit more picky and slower at eating (Lani will come help her clean her plate if she is too slow).
Our foster mumma says we are beautiful girls, with the softest silkiest fur she has ever snuggled. We like to chat to her when she gets our meals ready and we do like our food but we are dainty when we eat - we don't scoff our food down. We are also both litter box trained.
We both really hope that we can meet you very soon, but please remember to be patient with us. We wont be all over you to start with and will be reserved and may even hide a little, but it really doesn't take us long to know if you're a safe human who wont hurt us and, once we know, then we would love to get pats from you and play with you. We may even turn on our super loud purr engines for you! You never know!
