MaxWinter is a big puppy who is eager to please and is super snuggly. He desperately wants to be included in all activities that his humans are participating in. Whether it is gardening, house work, outings, watching sports, working or exercising, he is right by your side. When in company, he is a calm dog and very content just to lay beside you. He loves all people, and is always going up to people for pats and cuddles.
He is highly food orientated. Being food focused makes training very easy! While in care, he has learned all about sitting and waiting, laying calming for food, learning to socialise, correcting resource guarding, toilet training and using the dog door. He is accustomed to wearing a halti when on walks, he has now learnt not to pull or bark at other dogs or people running by. If he does slip up (as puppies do), it is easy to remind him to be calm when walking by others. He sleeps quietly in a crate at night and now sleeps through the night without needing to go to the toilet.
He has been happily out in crowds, for cafƩ catch ups and around crowds of children. In a very short time he has learnt so much and his new home must be committed to continue his training so that he will grow into the best dog he can be.
It is evident that MaxWinter hasnāt been exposed to much socialising with other dogs. He doesnāt always know how to behave and can get overexcited and relentless in his interaction with them, not always knowing when to stop. In care, we have found that he will happily engage with other dogs provided they have been introduced calmly and in a controlled manner. It is important that his new home have the ability to regularly socialise him with older dogs who can teach him social etiquette.
He really dislikes other animals taking his stuff. MaxWinter can get possessive with what he sees as "his" things. He doesnāt like other animals taking his toys. He doesnāt like other animals looking at his food and sometimes he doesnāt like other animals if they take too much attention away from his humans. MaxWinter would be suited to a home where there are no other pets or no very young children. Although his resource guarding has improved immensely, this will require ongoing support.
He just loves spending time with people. Loves laying indoors in the sun. Loves his chew toys and pull ropes. Loves his food and loves going on outings. he also loves collecting random shoes from around the house and making piles in his bed. He doesnāt chew them, just likes to admire his loot!
MaxWinter is still a puppy and had not been exposed to training, boundaries or supervised socialisation before coming into care. With consistent training and exposure, MaxWinter will be able to overcome all his cheekiness and will be the most beautiful companion for avery lucky home.
If you are interested in adopting MaxWinter, please include in your application how you will meet his requirements. Thank you.
