Hi everyone, this is Misty. Misty didn't let coming into care stop her happy exuberant personality. She stepped into her new living arrangements like she had always been here, loving both her foster carers and the dogs she lives with. Only with one issue, she wants to be around the people she loves and liked to let us know about it with a few good howls. It didn't take her long to work out this behaviour was not acceptable and quickly settled into her new routine. As a result of this her foster carers have started some crate training for reassurance, but Misty is still learning the ropes with this. Misty would benefit from the company of another dog to reassure her, as she loves people so much, she will fret without their company.
Mistys energy levels are slowly increasing as her health and fitness improves and her carers think she will be a dog with medium energy levels. She really enjoys the company of other dogs and playing tug of war and chasey. Equally though she is so happy to chill out at your feet getting belly rubs and cuddles, whilst the others are busy in the yard. Misty's smarts meant she learnt how to play fetch in less than 30 minutes and brings the ball back to her carers most of the time.
Misty is learning basic commands and although she isn't perfect everytime she appears to be a fast learner. In a short time, she has learnt to sit, shake and drop for food, however is still learning to wait to eat. It isn't her fault though, she just loves meal times and gobbles up whatever she is fed with exuberance. Misty won't be a fussy eater and is happy to eat her vegetable and fruit too. You do have to be careful, as Misty is clever and will sniff out every last morsel and eat it all! In care she has been using snuffle matts to slow down her eating and so she remembers to chew.
Misty has had a few wee accidents when she is scared of new situations or been told off. This appears to mainly occur when male humans are present and raise their voices or make sudden movements. Misty seems to be improving with this, as she is learning there is nothing to fear in her foster care home and to trust her human company.
This little lady is looking for a furever home where she can be part of a family getting lots of love and attention. Misty will be a little shadow to her humans and spend her days showing them how grateful she is for everything they do. Her foster humans call her "wiggle bum", because of her happy little stumpy tail that moves at double pace every time they walk past, pat or talk to her. Misty has the sweetest personality and will spend her life making sure her new family know how very lucky they are to have her.
