About Coco & Millie ~ (On Trial 28/06/21)
Coco and Millie are a beautiful and vibrant pair of little ladies looking for a special home together.
Coco is a mini bull dog around 3 years old and is the life of the party. She is an energetic and happy girl, great with all people and other dogs. She has a medium energy level and loves her daily walk, play time and wrestling with her fur sister, so will need to ensure she gets daily attention attention and stimulation in her new home. Coco had a tendency to jump when excited and sometimes nip when trying to get your attention, which has improved whilst being in care and she will need continued positive reinforcement training to help calm her down and decrease these behaviours. She is healthy, just needing some cleaning of the skin folds on her face and cannot be left outside on very hot days due to her breed. Some research on specific bulldog care would be recommended to understand her breed requirements.
Millie, a 4 year old Dachshund is the more shy of the two and takes comfort in the confidence of her fur sister. Millie is a real cuddly lap dog and love her pats and attention, she will gladly snuggle in bed with you if allowed and has the most beautiful endearing eyes! She takes some time to warm up to new people, just needing slow introductions to help her feel comfortable. She is generally ok with dogs her own size, but is reactive to larger dogs and other dogs whilst on a lead, so areas with lots of other dogs like parks and beaches may be overwhelming for her, but she will interact well one on one for play dates. Millie has a skin condition that can make her itchy and will need lifelong management, with frequent bathing of the affected areas and a watchful eye on any hotspots. She may need prescribed medication in the future for flare ups so her new family would need to be committed to managing her symptoms. Millie can also have some separation anxiety, which can be helped with calming treats and is helped by the fact that she had a constant companion in Coco.
Both girls are happy and enjoy the others company, sleeping and playing together and walk well together on a harness, however can pull when excited. Two short walks or one long walk around 30 minutes daily would be ideal for the girls. They prefer being inside, but ok spending time outside during the day and can be left alone, however secure fencing with no gaps would be needed as Millie tends to try try dig her way out when she realises her humans have gone without her.
They would be better suited to a home where someone is home more often for the attention they crave and without cats and small children, as Coco tends to jump and knock little ones. The girls are house trained, but can territory mark inside on occasion to establish dominance, so help in this area to toilet outside may be needed. They will need to stay on sensitive coat dry food, with some white meats mixed in regularly and they also enjoy pasta/vegetable mixes.
Whilst Coco and Millie are not a bonded pair, they will be best kept together as they adore each other. Although they do have some special requirements, they are quite easy going ladies, with a lot of love to give.
They are both desexed and to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments. Their adoption fee is $1200 and are located in Cameron Park (suburb of Newcastle).
