About Rollie
Hi so how’s it going? Well the rescue said I had to help write a bio for my forever home – so here goes!
My name is Rollie, I am a Maltese x, and I am 5 years and nearly 10 months old.
I have lived a bit of a life before coming into care – I broke my back but the kind vet nursed me back to health – I heard my foster mum mention something of 'they used glue but the model moved' .... so I’m a little out of alignment – you can see It when I walk and run – it’s a bit of a sideways walk but that does not slow me down from doing my zoomies and jumping on and off the bed – my foster mum closes her eyes each time and clutches her chest – such a drama queen!
Don’t tell her I told you this while I tell her that nothing will stop me ever there is a few things that I am not able to do as much as I would like too – long walks are out and rough play with bigger dogs – but this one I think is really cause my foster mum nearly has a heart attack.
I came into foster care pretty timid and unsure of things – but the rescue decided the best place for me would be with my foster mum and her son, and other dogs – big, small and puppies – who would have thought it but I love it!!
I love playing with the pups – except when they use their body weight to over power me, I love doing zoomies with the other small breed dog that is here, we have gotten into trouble a few times cause she looooves to destroy toilet rolls, and I’m a ride or die type of friend – have to be in the mix with them!
Due to some of my history before coming into care means that new places can make me nervous other times I shock my foster mum and blossom.
The rescue was told I was not a good ‘boy’ when being groomed and that grooming will always be a problem – and cause I had a few knots and long hair my foster mum worked with me to get comfortable being groomed – she worked with me doing small trims and then when I was getting comfortable she took me to the groomers who let me play for a bit and get used to them before they did my coat.
They were great cause some of the positions you need to be in to get groomed (hello yoga poses) meant that they had to be creative but I came out of it looking pretty good and no knots! And I waddled out feeling pretty happy and proud of myself!
My foster mum has said I would not be good for someone who is too elderly, and that’s just cause I love to run under your feet when you are walking and cause my body is a little crooked it can be harder to maneuver around.
I currently have a human brother that I like to hang with – he is great as he knows I am not a fan of being picked up but I am a fan of snoozing next to him on the couch or on the bed.
The rescue says I have to wrap up my bio so a few things I will need from my forever home
1. That they are aware that while I think I can do everything some limits will need to be applied e.g stairs and long walks)
2. Ideally I would love love love another small dog to play with and go out in the back yard and explore with
3. Whilst I’m great with children I need to be in a home where they are not going to try and pick me up – that will stress me
4. Someone who will just love me and adore me for the rest of my life
** Please note applications will close Monday 24th May 2021 at 5.30pm

Medical notes
Rollie has had a previous broken back before he came into care
This does NOT slow Rollie down at all and he while can walk a little funny and his feet turn out somewhat he is a happy healthy dog who loves to do zoomies and bounce around when you come home.
He will require a home with not alot of stairs
He will not be a dog that can go on long walks
He is not a dog that enjoys being picked up and cuddled / held but loves to be next to you on the couch / bed.
