About Wombat
Hi my name is Wombat and I’m around 8 months old.
Up until I came into care at Dusty Paws I had very limited handling and I was scared of people.
Through my time here with my foster family I have learnt that people aren’t so bad. I get lots of pats, cuddles and even get told I’m a good boy when come over to the humans to get my treats.
I’m sure I impress them with my wiggle bum cause they seem to love it ??
I’m still learning of course because I’m still young, even though I look all grown.
I like meeting new people even if I look scared it only takes me a little while to sus you out. I have a little human living with me and while I’m ok with her I’d really prefer older children.
I sleep inside at night in a crate, I would love to sleep on the bed but because I don’t really like cats it is safer for me and the cats if i sleep in the crate (they can’t get in there hehe).
I still pull a bit on the lead but I’m getting better.
I have some siblings to play with too, I love running around with them and when we’re done we all lay down in the sun for a while.
The human is teaching me things like sit and stay, not sure why though but I do it like the good boy I am.
I like a yard that’s secure as I have been known to jump if I get bored or super scared, but I have lots of toys to play with and my human takes me on lots of adventures around the farm and I love it! So I’m not often bored anymore, plus I’m getting better with everything and I’m not as scared now.
I’m really looking for some humans of my own though and i would love a sibling to play with.

* Please note, this is not a contract or agreement of any kind, only expression of interest in our dog. We will not conduct any meet and greets unless this form has been filled out and submitted for review. Only approved applicants will get to meet our dogs. *
Once approved you will be contacted by a team member and can organise a time best suited to meet with the carer and dog. If you have other dogs they must also be at the meeting, including any children in the immediate family.
Before applying please consider the following:
• real estate approval if renting
• any fencing repairs that may need to be done
• outside shelter
• breed knowledge
• do you have enough time for the breed of dog you are applying for?
If you and the dog get along, you have to option of taking the dog on the spot (at this time you will need to pay the full adoption price and sign the adoption agreement) You will then get a 2-week trial with the dog, during this time should things not work out you are to return the dog to Dusty Paws Dog Rescue. You will then receive a full refund; less $50 admin fee within 7 business days of the return of the dog.

Please also keep in mind that we are a volunteer run rescue which means we don’t have someone manning the phone 24/7, we all work full time jobs and get back to your calls and messages as soon as we can. We thank you for your time and patients with us.
