Unfortunately readvertising. Single person wanted!
Gigi is a very special girl who is looking for a very special home where she can feel safe and be understood. We want the absolute best for this little girl and therefore interested adopters will need to fit a strict criteria to be considered.
Don't be fooled by that cute as a button face, this little madam is sweetness and light 99% of the time and occasionally a terror.
Gigi is looking for a single unique person who will take the time to understand her special needs, take on the challenge and reap the rewards of having Gigi as their new best friend.
This home will have a single, savvy and confident person who has a lot of dog experience.
So... what's the story?
Basically Gigi is a furry version of Dr Jekyll and Mr (Miss?) Hyde...
***Dr Jekyll Gigi***
She's great to have in the house, house trained, crate trained and loves to get food treats.
She's great with other animals - all dogs and cats are her friends!
She's great in the car - front seat, back seat, she'll go anywhere.
So, what's the catch?
Little Miss Hyde Gigi!!! (Cue the dramatic music!)
When Gigi becomes anxious she will redirect her anxiety onto her favourite person by biting. Yes, biting! Sounds strange and it is! But Gigi is such a special girl with so many good qualities we are willing to wait to find her the perfect home that will understand and manage her needs.
In foster care this is being managed well. Gigi sometimes has to wear a muzzle, which she is used to and now her foster carer understands the triggers for her behaviour, the episodes are very few. We have several strategies to prevent and overcome the behaviour and would provide ongoing support.
We learn more about this lovely girl everyday and we need to know when we find her a new home she will be given the time and understanding to settle in and flourish into the sweet dog we know she is most of the time.
The new home will have a single adult who has experience and is confident managing dog behaviour. We are looking for a quiet home, with another dog of a similar size. It is important the person is not anxious as this will create anxiety in Gigi which is the main reason for her behaviour.
There must NOT be any children living in the house, although Gigi loves children and could be managed with children visiting.
If you think you have the right home and experience to give Gigi the very best home, please submit an application form and one of our volunteers will be in touch to give more information and answer any questions.
Please understand we are being very selective and will not be negotiating the criteria.
