About Misty
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Misty
BEFORE SAFE Esperance: Misty came to us as an owner surrender
BREED: Misty is a mixed breed. Her litter exhibits the features and characteristics of a Beagle and terrier. .
General Breed Traits: Beagle - a beagle is a small scent hound used for hunting hares. They are active, hardy, affectionate and also stubborn, so training requires patience. They love to use their nose, are inquisitive, determined and food focused. Being pack dogs they generally get along well with other animals and humans. They need plenty of exercise - at least an hour a day - and can be destructive if unexercised or bored. Beagles can climb so require good high fencing to contain them.
Terrier - terriers are generally lively, independent and clever. They are trainable but have a mind of their own and if bored can exhibit destructive behaviours such as digging and chewing. Terriers are devoted to their people and love being with them, so cannot be left for long periods.
ASSETS: She's an absolute darling with a beautiful nature. Easygoing, affectionate, devoted, friendly, outgoing, obedient, confident, active, playful and very sweet! She is friendly around all people that she meets.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Walks, playtime and lots of cuddles! Misty is very affectionate and loves cuddle time. She loves her squeaky toys and enjoys playing with her tug of rope.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She has a lovely personality and is very smart. She's quick on the uptake when learning new things and loves her food so training should be a breeze.
OTHER ANIMALS: Misty gets on well with other friendly dogs after gentle introduction. She hasn't been tested with cats or small animals as yet.
GENERAL INFO: Having been a yard dog until SAFE, Misty is still learning how to walk nicely on the lead and will bark at unknown dogs until she can sniff and say hi, she's then ready to play! Misty is attending local Dog Club and this reactivity is improving but she will continue to need gentle exposure to other dogs and places so that she can learn to be relaxed when out and about. She does pull on the leash at present because she's so eager to see and be involved with everything. She is housetrained and will bark when she hears strange noises. Her command training is coming along nicely.
HOME ESSENTIALS:
*Stability: An active home where someone is there for most of the day on a permanent basis (not just through Covid 19) or can take her with them when they go out. She needs someone who has the time to continue her training and take her for classes where she can socialize and learn new things in a safe and controlled environment.
*Time: Misty is a high energy girl and will need daily exercise. A good walk at least twice a day and play time with other canines will keep her happy and healthy.
*Space: Misty needs a well fenced, secure yard with some grass and interesting things for her to sniff.
*Love: Misty needs to be allowed to be inside or out as she chooses, to sleep inside at night and be included as part of the family. She would go well with dog-savvy, gentle children over 5 years old and would love to live with a playful, youngish doggy friend.
If Misty sounds like the perfect girl for you, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
