About Annie
Annie is the happiest hound, always smiling to greet a stranger, wagging her tail and moving in for a smooch. She loves her humans. Annie is learning excellent manners, she knows not to jump on the bed, is excellent on lead and will lift her feet for a wipe with the towel if its been wet. Annie has even learnt to restrain herself from smothering human passengers in the apartment elevator with kisses and nudges.
Annie’s foster Mum loves her quirks, the way she points one ear forward and one backwards and her cutest bouncy trot like a little deer. Her foster Mum’s heart melts a little every time she puts her head on her lap ready for some loving.
Annie is great with medium and large dogs but finds small dogs, cats and possums far too interesting.
She would be fine in a home as the only dog or a companion pup. She tends to be the boss so best with a male medium or large dog.
No cat or small dog applications please.
No children under six.
No full time workers unless working from home or there is another dog
We only consider applications who compete our online application.
When this is done we can make contact to discuss adopting a greyhound and potential suitable greys currently in foster care.
Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
