About Tucker
Tucker is a very smart, good natured, red and tan Kelpie boy, of about a year old. Tucker is an athletic boy who loves to run and play, and also loves to use his active brain, so he is looking for a home where he will not only have some space and plenty of exercise, but also the opportunity to learn and achieve his full potential.
Tucker has learnt many basic commands but he is still young and excitable, so he can still be easily distracted, for example, if other dogs are running around him, so he now just needs to work on this so that his obedience becomes reliable. He has been learning his basic manners too although he sometimes gets so excited about life that he needs to be patiently reminded about manners!
Tucker loves to go for walks and runs, loves to chase a ball, and is very athletic, so he would be ideal for a career in dog sports such as agility or flyball. Obedience training would be a pleasure with him, and he seems to have the herding instincts that would allow him to enjoy herding.
Tucker gets on well with all his doggy foster brothers but has a fairly boisterous style of play, so he will need some supervision when meeting new dogs to ensure that he minds his manners and improves on his social skills. An active doggy companion who could be a good role model in his new home would be a great bonus, and would be a necessity if he was to be left at home without his humans around. However, he will not mix well with cats and probably not with other small animals.
Tucker has been content to stay in the backyard with his foster brothers while his foster family are at work, and has not shown any inclination to try to escape or jump fences. He is also house trained.
Tucker is ready to find his forever home, and is looking for a person or family who are confident trainers, preferably with some experience with Kelpies, who will be willing to establish firm boundaries, so that his great potential can be realised. His perfect home will be a very active one where he will kept busy and involved in many activities as a part of the family, to ensure he has plenty of mental stimulation as well as exercise. The family who can offer him this will be rewarded with the love and loyalty of an outstanding dog!
