About Milo
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Milo - came to us from the pound.
BREED: American Bulldog x Bullmastiff
American Bulldog: agile and muscular bred for work on farms. Intelligent, affectionate and protective with family. High exercise needs requiring a big fenced back yard. If left alone for long periods can be destructive. A sensitive dog who takes things to heart so needs a gentle hand. They require early socialisation with dogs/people and patient training - an experienced dog savvy owner is a must.
Bullmastiff: originally bred as a guard dog, affectionate to family but can be standoffish with strangers. Sensitive and loving, powerful and courageous. Independent thinkers so training and socialisation must start young. An inside dog to be protected from overheating. Low to medium energy requirements. A drooler - not for novice owners.
He's an absolute wuss! Shy, affectionate, sensitive, quiet, sweet and playful, a one-person dog and very devoted. He has had little exposure or experience of the outside world so is initially timid around new people and requires positive reassurance. He is comfortable around females but can be wary of males.
He's a very playful boy and loves ball games and tug of rope. He loves his chew/treat toys and to interact with his human at every opportunity. He pulls the funniest faces when he 'talks' to you! He is a bit cheeky and wants a best friend. Milo has a lot to learn but will be a loyal companion with the right training and steady calm environment.
Initially a little unsure with new dogs but is generally accepting after gentle introduction, preferring females. He doesn't tolerate reactive dogs. In foster he understands his place and is generally submissive - now in foster with a female American Bulldog he is in heaven! He loves to play with her but over time he can be quite demanding and we feel he would be best suited to a pet free home. He is not food aggressive but doesn't like to 'share'. He's not a fan of small dogs/puppies jumping up and so due to his size wouldn't introduce him to anything small.
GENERAL INFO: Milo is still lead training and is getting used to a Halti as he is a very strong boy. He can 'spook' at unknown noises so requires a confident and strong human to walk him. He is housetrained, will bark to get attention or when he's playing. His command training needs work but he is eager to please - he will do anything for a bit of sausage! He does have a stubborn streak so training needs to be fun and he is now enjoying travelling in the car. He can be destructive when bored, but he's still a puppy at heart! He could live with a gentle child over 12 who is comfortable around large dogs.
ESSENTIALS:
*Due to his size (50kg+) and lack of training/experience, Milo will need a dog-savvy, calm home where someone is there for most of the day or can take him with them when they go out. He needs to work with a professional trainer to give him the foundation he lacks, this will build his confidence. He requires structure within the home and anything done with Milo must be taken slowly, carefully and sensitively due to his size, strength and lack of experience.
*Milo needs daily exercise, and an experienced, strong owner to walk him safely.
*Milo needs a well fenced, secure yard or would be better on a quiet property that is well fenced and safe - we would avoid his access to views of busy roads or footpaths.
*Milo needs access inside and out, to sleep inside at night and be included as part of the family.
*He needs a pet free home to keep the dynamics simple and so that he has one on one time with his owner.
If Milo sounds like the perfect boy for you, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
