About Maisie DL2657
Maisie is a beautiful girl looking for her perfect match! We can’t wait to see her settling in and finding her groove in a new home. An experienced owner with a rural lifestyle would be ideal for Maisie.
Maisie has quirks that you will need to have the confidence, experience, and common sense to handle. She displays resource guarding in the home. In particular, her food bowl, toys, furniture, and her sleeping space. For this reason, she is not suited to a home with children or pets. You will need to be well versed in dog body language, setting and maintaining routines and boundaries, and managing defensive behaviour.
Maisie would be happiest on a larger property where she has no need to leave for walks and can instead sniff and explore to her heart’s content! Maisie isn’t a fan of other dogs, particularly larger ones (some smaller ones can be ok), so any walks would need to be in quieter areas, wearing a halti to help with pulling.
Maisie also has some wonderful qualities! She demonstrates patience and doesn’t barge through doors, she sits and waits. She doesn’t snatch when given treats. She isn’t destructive; no digging or chewing shoes, plants, etc. She’s alert and mildly anxious in the car, but not problematic. She has been known to love playing fetch. Chasing after the ball is the best part!
Maisie appears content much of the time and not hyper vigilant. She only barks when she hears the neighbours or a dog passing, she is not a nuisance barker. She comes when called and sits on cue. She sleeps through the night in her indoor crate and has enviable bladder control! She treats her outdoor crate like a kennel during the day and will often take herself off for a rest.
Maisie is a special girl who needs an equally special foster home. She can be fostered with the plan to adopt. If you’d love to help Maisie on her journey, email our team at DFLrescue@gmail.com today to apply.
