💫🌼 MEET LUCY 🌼💫
Well hello there, strangers! I've been in foster care for a little while now so I thought I should reintroduce myself. My name is Lucy and sadly the start of my young life has not been the easiest; I'm only young and already I've got white hairs sprouting through! My foster mama has the exact same issue though and I'm handling it far better than she is. Anyway, I've come a long way in these last six months so we thought it was time to update this bad boy!
Nature
I was found all alone, pregnant and injured but thankfully I was whisked away to safety by the Angels and placed in a loving foster home. I had my kittens, loved and raised them as best a mother can, and then watched as they all found their new homes. Once my carer could focus solely on me she realised my back legs were badly injured, most likely due to being hit by a car, and the vet sadly could not save one of them. Despite my other leg being fractured I still manage to live care-free and happily. It really does not affect me at all and my foster mum says I'm just as crazy and hyperactive as any other young kitty!
Adjusting to domesticated life has not been easy for me and I have spent a long time hiding away and hissing at anyone who dared to come near me. But now, six months down the track, I am a changed kitty! I adore my foster parents and love playing with them and being in their company. I still don't like being touched, and I will bat you away if you try, but I now brush up against my foster mama's legs looking for attention, so she doesn't think it will be long until I'm demanding pats!
Companions (Children, Cats & Dogs)
When I first came into foster care I didn't like anyone, especially humans! But, ya know, they're actually not so bad! They feed me, play with me and let me curl up in their lap! I've never met tiny humans but I'd probably do better with mature ones who will understand my needs and be gentle as I settle in.
I have fallen head over heels in love with the resident feline who has helped me learn how to cat! My foster mama says I'm his little shadow - I don't really understand why, but I'm guessing it could be because of my colour?!
I'm a bit of a nervous nelly so would be suited to a home with a very friendly cat or dog, who will be gentle with me, respect my boundaries, and tolerate my crazy kitty ways. The most important thing is that our introduction is slow so that everyone can adjust gradually of course.
Likes / Dislikes
You know how I said when I first came into care that I didn't like anybody? Well, I didn't like anything either! In fact, my foster mum said I was pretty spicy and regularly called me 'Scary Spice' because she was so terrified of me. I know, it's ridiculous, I'm a tiny little kitty - I think she just scares easily. Anyway, I asked her again recently and she says I'm much more 'Baby Spice' these days and now I love so many things!
Playing is still my absolute favourite. If you've got arms and one of those cat-wand toys then we will become fast friends. I also love my food and am particularly partial to a saucer of cat milk every evening. I absolutely adore the company of my resident cat friend who has really brought out my confidence, and I'm learning that humans are pretty okay too! I'm especially enjoying curling up in their lap and snoozing the day away. I've also started baking bread on them to show just how happy I am. I can be pretty adorable when I want to be.
My list of dislikes used to be huge but is getting smaller as the days go on. I'm still not a fan of being touched and will give you a swift slap if you try. I'm very cautious of some of my other foster siblings but my foster mama thinks I'm just defensive as I'm only on three wheels. I also don't like loud noises or sudden movements and will quickly run away, but I'm a cat - that's just who we are and what we do!
Medical notes
My PURR-fect home would be with a kind natured, caring and patient family who want to add a tiny little firecracker to their family and give a girl a beautiful second chance at life. They would need to understand that It may take some time before I wish to be picked up and held, but that I show love in other ways like cuddling up in your lap or sitting next to you on the sofa and watching TV.
My favourite show is Friends. Man, that Chandler really cracks me up. My main hope is that someone will give me the chance to live out the rest of my days in peace and comfort. It may take some time for me to fully relax into domesticated life but I'm getting there with every new day and my foster parents tell me that I am a truly special little tripod with a whole lot of love to give.
