About Kye
The beautiful boy Kye is now seeking his forever home
Before you apply you must read the entire profile please !!!!
This boy has my heart and I made a iske in his last adoption to who I chose for him and I will not make the same mistake again. He is an amazing boy with amazing potential that derives his chance of a home and love
Kye is chipped as a border Collie x but to me looks more like an Aussie shepherd or a pint size Bernese mountain dog
He is around the size of your standard Border Collie just thicker built
So Kye was adopted some 5 weeks ago but was returned 48 hours later.
We chose the wrong home for him, it's pretty much as simple as that!
Kye is one of the most intelligent dogs I have worked with
He learns very quickly and is very eager to please
He is very loving, very loyal and super smart
But before I go on with more about him you need to know that Kye needs a very secure yard
When your not home Kye will jump out of a standard wooden fence ( Climbs the palings) to go and visit the neighbourhood and say Hi ( He is very social) he will generally jump back in before you get home so he isn't caught too !!!!!!
Definitely a color bond fence that he has no way of climbing is your best bet and we will not adopt him out to a home that does not have very secure fencing as we have requested.
People
He loves loves loves everyone he meets of all sizes
When really excited can jump up on you a few times to say hi but that settles quickly
Car Travel
Kye loves car rides and will happily jump into anyone's car for a drive
He travels well and this is one of his favourite things
Kye will bark at people and dogs that he sees on the trip in excitement
Food
Kye isn't a real fan of dry food but will eat it begrudgingly lol
He gets a mix of Prime 100 and dry food each day
House behaviours
Kye is full house trained and has not ever destroyed anything in the home
He loves to sit on the couch with the family and watch TV
Kye does get hot easily and prefers not to sit under a heating duct and will move to a cooler spot
Coat maintenance
Kye has a nice thick soft coat that doesn't shed much at all
A brush once a week is more than enough
Obedience
Kye has great recall and did learn his name in 48 hours
He will sit when asked and jump up and down when requested
I think you could teach this boy anything to be honest
I prefer to walk him in a harness and find that he will pull at the start but settles in and walks well once in a good rhythm
Id live to see this boy in agility or competition games as he would excell
Kids
I have had him with multiple children and have no concerns with him at all
He adores people
Water
Kye has recently discovered he loves to splash in a shell pool
Other pets
Chickens - If they are behind a fence i've had no issues , but if he is in with then he will chase them and potentially hurt
Cats - Sitting in the house quite all good - run , he will chase so no cats for his new home is better
Dogs - So I have tested Kye with around 20 different size dogs . From smaller females to large entire males and have had no issues. Although when he first plays he can be a little rough and jumpy on some he loves the game of chase and frog leap with every dog he meets.
The only one encounter I have had with him was with a little Cav male that he was too rough with and before it escalated I removed him
I have had him off lead with countless dogs ( of course all very dog social dogs) and tested him on lead with a few not so social dogs and again have not seen anything to concern me
But there is a reason why we did not adopt him out straight away when he was returned as we wanted to test him over and over again after he was returned because the people who we adopted him to said he got into a fight with another dog !!! Because of their feedback I wanted to test and test him over and over incase I had missed something ! I just haven't seen it !
