About 5199 - Kitty
๐ผ๐๐ MEET KITTY ๐๐๐ผ
What can I tell you about Kitty? Kitty came to me to foster after a brief period in a shelter. I was told she was surrendered when her owner went into care and that she was 10 years old, and called Kitty. The vet thought she looked younger than 10, but according to her microchip, she's called Tabby and she's actually almost 12! Still, the name Kitty suits her very well and she doesn't seem to mind us mixing it up, so Kitty it is!
The shelter didn't think she liked people but the reality is she doesn't like other cats, and the shelter was full of cats- too many sights, sounds, and smells for her to relax. She loves people, and thinks hands are meant to scratch her head.
Nature
Kitty is a very confident cat, with typical torti-tude. On the days I'm working from home, she comes and demands attention in the form of head scratches in the morning. If I pick her up while I'm working, she does this odd thing, where she half stands on my lap and half lays on the desk. In the afternoon, she can usually be found in her favourite sun-trap.
Her fur is soft like a bunny's and she keeps herself well groomed. She likes to jump up on the bed and will purr and purr. She likes to sleep near, but not next to you. She's such a sweet girl that if she got on with the resident cats, she'd 100% be a foster-fail.
Companions (Children, Cats & Dogs)
Kitty hasn't met any dogs or children in her foster home. The resident cats have given her a mixed reception and Kitty has decided that she doesn't like any of them - even the friendliest one who has tried to befriend her several times. Even though she trusts me, she may still nip at my hands if I've been petting one of the resident cats and she can smell them on my hands.
I've never met a cat that dislikes other cats so much. Sometimes I wonder if she even realises that she's a cat! I do shut her away for the night to keep her separate from the other cats in the house, and this seems to upset her a lot.
Likes / Dislikes
Kitty eats wet food morning and evening, and a supply of dry food to nibble on whenever she wants. When she first arrived, she'd eat anything, but now wet food alternates between Dine Tuna in Mornay sauce and Royal Canin Senior in gravy. Gravy is important, jelly is not as good!
Head scratches are on her must-have list! Kitty is not one to just start playing with a toy just left on the floor, but if I pull out a cat teaser dangling toy, she goes into action mode and I get bored of it before she does.
She's not too keen on strange smells, sudden movements or loud noises, and, of course, other cats.
My PURR-fect home would be a nice calm one where I have lots of freedom to roam and explore, but with a safe area to tuck myself away if I get scared. I might take a little while to settle in and get used to you, but as long as you play with me, scratch my head lots, and let me sleep on the bed at night, I'm sure we'll get along just fine!
So, there you have it. A senior cat with 2 names, who doesn't look or act her age, and might not even think she's a cat. Kitty is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Perhaps you are the key!
