About Leia
Gorgeous Leia is our resident social butterfly and loves meeting new people. She is a friendly dog who gets along with every human she meets and loves to spend every waking moment with them. A companion for life, Leia loves getting cuddles and is excited to stay close to her humans as they go about their day. She is also an explorer, enjoying nothing more than going on her walks to discover something new. It is safe to say this girl loves her adventures and would be happy as a clam to accompany her humans on all their explorative destinations. Leia also loves receiving human attention and is therefore a bit of a people pleaser, who will try to please her humans in every way possible.
Leia understands basic commands when it comes to sit, stay and come but will need further more consistent training to fine tune and master these skills. Leia will need to have humans who will understand that mastering these skills will take time and are willing to commit to giving her the time and patience she needs. With her people pleasing nature, she will no doubt take quickly to training and practising these skills just to make her humans proud of the good girl she is. Leia can sometimes get a bit too excited and will jump in excitement around children but is easily calmed down. Further training would be beneficial to help her associate a signal word to calming down and knowing when to stop any over-excited/too playful behaviour. Leia is a territorial girl who doesn’t like dogs she doesn’t know trespassing on her territory.
Due to her exploratory nature, this girl will need high fences as she has been known to escape the yard to go on adventures. Leia will also need to go on daily walks so that she can still explore her surroundings and would greatly benefit from frequent trips to the beach. As she is a social girl, Leia is not suited to a home where her humans are away all day at work/school and will need some-one at home with her to give her lots of cuddles and spend lots of time with her. However, as sometimes this is just not possible, she will need lots of toys to keep her mentally engaged and entertained. Leia does not get along with cats and so will need to be in a home free from cats as she has been known to kill them. Leia needs a home full of love and patience to help her thrive.

MEET & GREET
We encourage all adopters to meet their new addition before committing to adoption. This gives you a chance to see if the animal might be a good fit, and if a dog, to also introduce them to your other animals. Just like we don't expect all humans to get along, we expect the same for animals.
ADOPTION AGREEMENT
At CQASI our animals future is paramount and we want to see them put into their forever homes. Every detail on our agreement is used to ensure your home is suitable for a new addition, that you agree to the terms and conditions and we also use some of the info for owner transfer after the adoption trial period (mentioned further down)
HOME/YARD CHECK
All our cats are indoor/outdoor enclosure only so all house checks are done when your feline friend is being dropped off to join your household. If the barking variety is what you are looking at adding to your home then one of our volunteers will contact you to arrange a day/time for a yard check. This is to check your fencing is suitable, see where your new canine will be sleeping and just get a general feel for the home they will be going to. All our adoptions tend to be local, but we have connections all over QLD so are more than happy to consider all serious adoption enquiries. A house/yard check will be done if we can get a local member (if adoption enquiry is not Rockhampton based) to assist.
ADOPTION FEE
Adoption fee is to be paid prior to collecting your new family member. The adoption fee is used to cover the vet work your new addition received. This includes - but is not limited to Desexing, vaccination/s, microchipping, parasite treatment/prevention (heart worm testing for dogs only).
TWO WEEK TRIAL
All our animals have a two week trial period. This gives your new addition time to settle into your family life and to give you a chance to ensure they are exactly what you want. If they are not settling in then we will arrange to take them back into care and you will be refunded the adoption fee. If after the two weeks they are exactly what you wanted then we will send you all their paperwork including sterilisation certificate, vaccination certificate and microchip transfer form.
Our aim is a beautiful goodbye into their new home. We treat any potential adoption with the upmost care as the animals safety and welfare is our number one concern.
