About Fred - Located in Rosanna
After a long fostering journey, super sweet Fred is finally ready to find his forever home!
Fred came into care scared of humans and suffering from several medical issues. But with lots of pets, love, and cuddles, he's become a very smoochy boy with a big personality!
Unless he's found a nice sunny spot to lounge in, Fred's favourite place to be is near his humans. He loves to curl up and take a nap anywhere people are, whether it's in someone's lap or cuddled up next to them in bed.
He might look grumpy, but you’ll find that Fred is gentle, affectionate, well-behaved, and a great conversationalist! He loves telling you exactly how he's feeling with his sweet little meows and soft purrs. He will greet his humans with happy little chirps when they get home, and he often announces himself when he enters a room!
Though he adores people, he does not get along with other animals and would be best suited to a household without any other pets.
Fred has medical conditions that will require ongoing care and management. His new family will need to monitor his health in order for him to live a happy and healthy life.
Fred is an FIV+ cat, so he cannot live with FIV- cats. He must be kept indoors, as his weakened immune system makes him vulnerable to disease and infection.
Fred requires daily oral medication and a special diet.

Medical notes
Fred is FIV positive. He currently suffers from two complications of FIV: dental disease and allergic skin disease.
His teeth have been cleaned this year and may need cleaning under anaesthetic every few years. Regular brushing each week with a tooth brush is recommended to help keep Fred's teeth healthy.
Fred is currently on a hypoallergenic diet and long term medication to control his allergic skin disease. When not on this diet and medication his skin becomes extremely itchy and he overgrooms himself causing sores and infections. His medication is a little costly, but keeps him comfortable and happy.
Fred has been diagnosed with a heart murmur, he has recently had an echo which showed only mild changes to his heart, and these changes are currently not affecting his health. The murmur is worse when Fred is stressed so his vets have put him on an anti-anxiety medication. He may be able to be weaned off this in the future once he is settled in a new home for a few months.
