About Priscilla
*In foster care in Randwick, Sydney*
Have you always wanted to have a moody, anti-social housemate who doesn’t pay rent and prevents you from sitting in your favourite chair? Maybe you like to be left alone and need a pet who would scare your friends away if they come to visit? Need someone to look at you like they are constantly judging all your life choices? You like the idea of a cat, but hate the sound of purring? Look no further.
Priscilla is the cat version of a strong, independent woman. A 60s militant feminist. She doesn’t really want or need you around – except maybe for opening cans of cat food, but keep in mind she would rather starve than eat something that is not to her taste. You cannot own Priscilla. You can invite her into your house, and hope she will eventually accept your presence along her side. This might take some time, as Priscilla does not trust just anyone – she will test your resilience through a series of physical and emotional challenges to check whether you are worthy – these might include but are not limited to ankle biting, scratching, hissing and making herself look very big and scary.
She likes to go where she wants to go, and does not approve of closed doors. Indeed all this might not sound very appealing at first – but once Priscilla has accepted you, there are rewards to be reaped. You will feel very special, being the only person who can touch her – think Harry Potter touching Buckbeak and how impressed all of his friends were. You can probably give up on any home theft insurance. You will also never again need to worry about cockroaches, as Priscilla’s night time job is pest control. Priscilla also does not purr – even when she is (presumably) content –we are not sure why, but if you have always found the fridge-like noises cats make annoying, well, what can we say. Jackpot.
On a (slightly) more serious note, Priscilla has been in foster care for over a year (can you see why?) and has made great progress, however she is likely to revert to some of her old behaviour once adopted. Changes in environment cause her a great deal of anxiety, which she reacts to by trying to protect herself – in ways that may be unpleasant to those trying to help her.
Priscilla is a nature lover and would benefit from having access to the outside as it helps her anxiety – however, she has been living indoors at her foster home, so it is not essential. If you think you have the time, space and patience for a cat that will not cuddle up with you on the couch, but that WILL get attached to you and make you feel special in her own ways – Priscilla’s foster carer will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Like all Maggie's pets, Priscilla is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... will have enough space for me to run around and jump on things (if Cat Olympics were a thing, I'd have a chestful of gold medals!). I'd also really enjoy access to a balcony or secure enclosure, as I love watching the world go by through my foster mum's windows and it would be awesome to get amongst it a bit!
I would be best suited to a couple with no children. I do take a long time to settle in to new environments (a few months) and so a calm home who will work with me to build trust is important. I would also like my own room as my safe space to start off with.
Please ensure you watch my video in my profile to see my journey in foster care and what to expect.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I like to nap and relax a lot during the day, and bring out my slightly more energetic side early in the morning (the purrfect time to play with plastic bags, I've always thought!) and later in the evening.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I am not suitable for children.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I have lived with other foster cats and did not enjoy them. Due to my sensitive nature I am looking for a home without any other pets.

We ask all people looking to adopt to fill in our adoption enquiry form at https://form.jotform.co/92940837256870. Please use this link rather than the 'Enquire' button on the pet's PetRescue profile to streamline your enquiry.
Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
