About March
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive socialisation with other people/dogs/puppies, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and if you have space in your personal life. March will require a commitment and investment of your time as a younger puppy, and a home where he has human company for most of the day **
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: March's litter of 8 pups came to us as an owner surrender. Six of his siblings have found their perfect homes and we just have March and August to go!
KNOWN BREEDS: Terrier x American Staffordshire Terrier (+ other unknown breeds). We expect he will be a SMALL TO MEDIUM sized dog. Terriers come in all shapes and sizes and were bred for different reasons but many were for farm work or ratting. Today they are mainly companions. Terriers are generally high energy, very bright and quick to learn but can be stubborn. They have strong personalities and a sense of fun and want to be included in everything you do. Don't take on a terrier unless you really do want a companion. American Staffordshire Terriers are quite high energy, playful, affectionate and intelligent but do require training as can be headstrong. They are very social with adults and children and are extremely loyal but can suffer from separation anxiety if left for long periods. Their sociability with dogs is a facet that needs work from an early age.
ENERGY LEVEL: Typical pup at the moment, plays, eats, poops, sleeps, repeat! These pups have a medium energy level and will need daily walks once fully vaccinated to build their fitness and health. They will also need toilet training in their new home so expect lots of accidents!
ASSETS: Friendly, confident, easy-going, energetic and affectionate! He's friendly to pretty much everyone he meets with no signs of fear at all and adores snuggles with his person.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Loves to settle himself into your arms for a cuddle and snooze!
ENDEARING FEATURES: Listens carefully when spoken to and loves to be involved in everything that's going on.
OTHER ANIMALS: Gets on well with other friendly dogs after gentle introduction and enjoys playing with them. Hasn't been around cats but given his young age he should be fine with a dog-savvy cat that will stand its ground after closely supervised introductions.
GENERAL INFO: March is still a blank canvas. He will need extensive training and socialization in his new home so a commitment will be required from his new owner to take him to puppy school where he can socialise and learn new things in a safe and controlled environment, and we would strongly recommend ongoing training into adulthood. March has an umbilical hernia which will be repaired at our cost at the time of desexing.
NEW HOME ESSENTIALS:
Stability: A home where someone is there for most of the day on a permanent basis (not just through Covid 19) or can take him with them when they go out - this breed mix flourishes with human company, they are people dogs and a young pup will not cope being left alone.
Time: March has a medium energy level and will need good daily exercise. He will need a gradual increase in activity as he grows and as an adult dog will need a walk/run twice a day to keep him happy and healthy.
Space: March needs a good sized, well fenced, secure yard with some grass and interesting things for him to sniff.
Love: March needs to be allowed to be inside or out as he chooses, to sleep inside at night and to be included as part of the family. He would go well with dog-savvy, gentle children over 5 years old, and would love a youngish dog to play and interact with in his new home.
If March sounds like the perfect boy for you, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
