About Rig
Big Rig is now looking for his forever home!!
The gorgeous big and loving Rig is a 40 kilos sweetheart who is great with cats and now seeks a loving new home
PERSONALITY
Big Rig is almost 2 years old so therefore is still filled with a lot of energy. Everyday when his foster mum gets home from work he does zoomies around the backyard. Even though he can be full of energy, Big Rig does have his down moments too. He loves nothing more than to cuddle up on the couch and fall asleep. He is a Great Dane x so he definitely has the couch potato trait in him from the Great Dane. Big Rig is quite nervous in new environments, however he has never once shown any signs of aggression towards people. He gets nervous around other dogs but loves cats if they are friendly to him! All he needs is some TLC and he will be your best friend in no time.
FEEDING
Big Rig is being fed the Royal Canin Dry Food Sensitivity as he was being fed bad food before arriving to his foster mum. He LOVES raw bones and any treats he will love. Big Rig is very food motivated so will be very easy to continue training. His Foster mum makes him sit and wait patiently before giving his food. He is fed morning and night.
TEMPERAMENT
Big Rig is a very excited gentle giant. He wouldn’t harm a fly if it landed on him but sometimes he doesn’t realise how big he is. He sometimes throws his body around when excited or doing zoomies so may not be suited for young children but a bit more training and he will learn the right ways. He does not show any signs of aggression but more fearful towards other dogs (a bit of a sook sometimes) but again, that’s the great dance in him! He loves all people and warms up to them after a few minutes of being greeted, and definitely loves a big cuddle.
ENRICHMENT
As mentioned earlier, Big Rig has quite a lot of energy and needs to be kept busy. He is definitely not a dog to be kept in the backyard for days on end with nothing to do. Big Rig loves his bones so big bones or KONG toys will be perfect when he is left alone. He still isn’t overly sure about toys but he will chase them if you initiate it for him. If he is not given anything to do he may chew something else around the yard he isn’t meant to. He currently gets walked once a day but twice a day will be even more ideal.
PERFECT HOME
Big Rig is such a lovely boy and will suit and home with no other dogs until his confidence grows around them and older children. He is very easily trained and listens very well so will also suit first time dog owners. He loves attention and cuddles so being left home alone all day will not be great for him. He is such a big hearted boy that just needs someone to love him just as much back!
Other animals
Rig is a little scared of other dogs so at this point in his life we feel an only dog home is more suited and he will need to be slowly socialized with gentle other dogs so he can grow in confidence
Rig is beautiful around cats and will suite a home with them
