ASSISTED REHOMING
Meet beautiful Scruffy, a 5-year-old Wolfhound X (mother: American Bulldog, father: Wolfhound/ Bull Arab X, born February 2016) 🐶
Scruffy is your typical gentle giant, he loves each and everything🥰. He's been growing up with my now 10year old and his friends and has frequently visited off lead dog parks with no issues ever, playing well with dogs big and small. He does like to play rough but never bites and reacts very well to signals from other dogs 🐶 . His own body language is also very clear. I don’t think he would have any issues with cats but we don’t have one and he hasn’t had any exposure to date.
He is de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, house trained, knows basic commands (sit, down, stay, leave, heel, touch, come (latter works always inside, but only 50% when off lead outside with distraction so requires further work. I did never have a problem getting him to come after a good play at the dog park though) 🤩.
He walks well on the lead, my 10year old can walk him, but we do use a halter just in case as he is quite strong.
He does not understand his own size and weight (43kg), so I tend to not have him off lead around smaller children as he may get too excited running around and accidentally knocking them over.
Scruffy loves the water 💦 , he is great in the car (no car sickness) and he stays at home by himself with access to the fenced backyard with no problem for extended periods (although if given the choice he would say that he prefers having company).
He developed eczema when he was about 1 year old and is now on 16mg Apoquel daily. We believe it is caused by an allergy to Tradescantia (a plant growing in abundance in our area) so if he lived somewhere else his symptoms may disappear, however there is no guarantee and he may require treatment for the rest of his life). He also does not have a great tolerance for heat or cold so definitely needs to continue living inside a home. He is also scared of thunder and likes to hide under the bed until it passes.
He is otherwise a healthy and fun dog who will make a great companion. He appreciates his daily walk and is happy to lounge around the house or on the deck for the remainder of the day.
Scruffy’s owners are very upset to be in this situation and really want to make sure that he finds a wonderful family who will love and care for him.
