About Gary
Gary is a little ray of sunshine. His constant wagging tail showing how happy he is to spend the day with his humans. He is a busy boy, interested in everything going on. If he is a little bored he is inclined to entertain himself by tossing a toy or ball in the air but if you offer to throw it for him his face lights up.
Affection is Gary’s specialty, a bit of a lick, an intimate lean or just wanting to climb into your lap when you sit on the picnic rug. You are his world.
Gary is the best room mate with his greyhound foster brother. Up for a play but quite respectful of downtime of his foster mate's occassional grumpiness. He is still getting used to meeting other dogs on his walks, sometimes getting a bit excited and enthusiastic. He doesn't like off lead dogs buzzing around him when he is on lead but gets along well with medium and larger dogs on his playdates.
Gary is too exuberant and bouncy for a home with smaller children and needs his humans home a lot.

When this is done we can make contact to discuss adopting a greyhound and potential suitable greys currently in foster care.
Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
