Hello, my name is Mungo! My foster mum (and most other people) say I’m a very stunning boy! Whilst I’m big, I absolutely love a good cuddle and I’ll sit on your lap if you let me. I’m also very loyal and I’d make a great guard dog.
I’ve had some difficulties getting on with small male dogs, but I’m currently housed with a small female dog and we get along just fine (and she can be very intense!), and I’ve had no issues with larger male dogs in the past either. I also have a good history with children being brought up around young kids (although my breed generally is known for being a bit standoffish with strangers, including children), and I’m more scared of my foster mum’s cats than they are of me, although I do show them some interest at times I can be easily called away.
Catahoulas are known for being headstrong, independent intelligent dogs, and firm, consistent boundaries and regular daily exercise are a requirement for taking one into your family. I’ve quickly become accustomed to indoor life and at the moment it can be hard to convince me to go outside, or jump in the back of the car, or go in to the vets. I’d be best suited to someone experienced with training and handling larger breed dogs who will be the alpha and set boundaries and provide me with vigorous daily exercise, and lots of love!
Medical notes
**Please note, while tested heartworm negative, Mungo still requires to come back to our vets for a test in July 2021**
