About Andy - Total Sweetie
Andy came into the care of Forever Friends in Winter 2020 in very poor condition. With much TLC, this gentleman has since flourished and his sweet temperament has shone through.
Andy loves his humans and is excellent with all other horses. Approximately 15.3 hands high, he would love a paddock companion and is suitable to be a good mate to another horse or pony.
Since we’ve been working with Andy, we’ve found him easy to catch and easy to lead. He is a good boy when it's time to have his feet trimmed or picked up and cleaned. He needs some encouragement to get in and out of the horse float, but is improving.
We believe Andy is a former racehourse, and as such, has a couple of old injuries that have contributed to some arthritis. However, he is on a daily dose of a tablet called Prevequine, costing roughly $1 per day, which helps greatly. We've even seen him pig-rooting and cantering again lately
Andy’s health checks are up to date. He was fully vaccinated, wormed and teeth checked in October 2021. He has had his feet done regularly.
Being a Thoroughbred, Andy will require hard feed in winter in order to keep his condition. And as he’s in his ‘twilight’ years, Andy will require rugging in the cooler months.
You’ll be rewarded with Andy’s love and affection when you welcome him to your forever home. Please contact us to express your interest in this lovely horse.
Medical notes
Andy is a happy, healthy horse, up to date with all medical needs. He has a mild heart murmur which doesn't require medication. He is on a daily dose of a tablet called Prevequine, costing roughly $1 per day, which helps with arthritis pain.
