About Chooch
Please meet CHOOCH, an affectionate and gentle male Rhodesian Ridgeback x Mastiff, born on 21 August 2015.
Surrendered due to a relationship breakdown and through no fault of his own, this gentle giant of a dog has been a cherished family pet and loves everyone.
He is dog- and cat-friendly - and great with kids, although he is unaware of his size, strength and big voice. In fact, Chooch's self-perception is that he's a small dog and definitely quite small enough to sit on your lap, if given the chance.
Chooch also thinks he's still a puppy. He can be exuberant and excitable when you first meet him and just needs a little time to settle down. He has been well socialised with humans and dogs alike. He has been around a lot of small to medium dogs and loves to engage in doggie play. He has never shown any aggression, but will sound the bark alarm if a stranger comes into or close to his territory.
He is a highly affectionate and sweet-natured chap and is used to being indoors in close proximity to his humans. He's lead-trained and, according to his previous owner, can be walked on a nose lead, neck collar or harness.
Chooch is well-behaved. He's happy to go driving in the car and is the perfect gentleman when visiting the vet.
He's also used to his creature comforts. He loves nothing better than a warm shower with Johnson & Johnson's Top to Toe Soap, followed by a cuddle with his favourite blanket. On cold days, he likes to wear a coat and snooze the day away.
Chooch currently weighs 55 kgs and would benefit from losing a good 5-10 kgs. He hasn't had enough exercise in recent months, as his expanded waistline attests.
His adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.
