About Maggie
Maggie is so quiet, like a little mouse. Such a stunning and petite girl with a matching personality.
Our Maggie has a sweet little face and a lovely glossy coat. We think she knows how beautiful she is and will pose with her little posh paws crossed, waiting for her close-up.
Maggie is a shy, timid girl but getting braver every day. She prefers her little walks in quiet areas. Loud noises can still startle her. Maggie will do her best to avoid children’s playgrounds or noisy people.
Maggie can be quite nervous around new people, especially men. Once she gets to know her people though she is very affectionate and loves to be near her favourite human. She is very gentle and loves nothing more than cuddling up on the couch with you. She has been living with other male foster dogs and gets along fine with them, mostly but can get a little jealous and hoard her toys from them. She would be fine as an only dog or with another calm greyhound.
Maggie needs a quiet house and prefers being around calm individuals. She may take time to warm to some people, but if they let her approach in her own time, she gets there eventually. Once she finds her people and is comfortable, she comes out of her shell and plays with her toys and loves a cuddle.
If you are sitting on the couch, Mags will often come and stand over the top of you and expect a cuddle. Always a laugh when you are trying to look at the laptop with her little head in the way.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
